Brigs back so many memories of growing up in Idaho. We have a place in the central Idaho wilderness area that is the only private property in miles. Before the wolves, there were elk everywhere; not so much now but getting your game is just a bonus. The real fun is just being out in the woods and enjoying the solitude of the wilderness and being grateful for the Lords blessings.

If it was easy everyone would elk hunt. Glad to see Jefe taking Rhett under his wing. That landscape looks way different than western Montana. I've killed several elk through the years on mountains steep enough to roll one down to the flat ground, then get help with the dragging. Pack boarded a few as well. Haven't killed one since the wolves showed up. Seldom ever see an elk anymore in my old spots. Still gotta get out and try though.

I'm impressed you made an effort to elk hunt pine valley unit. I've hunted muley for many years in the unit. Come across elk sign twice and that's it. I've heard of people harvesting elk on the unit but never seen one myself

If I had one thing to say it would be this, just because the rifle will shoot 400 yds, doesn't mean the shooter can! Personally I think it is ill-advised to have a person that is not very confident in their shooting abilities to shoot at such long distances, you take too big of a risk of wounding an animal and getting away! Know your weapon but know yourself better! 👍👍👍
