The ancestors we get to play in the game, I would say : definitively not. It needs a much developped brain for a creature to project thoughts on Life beyond immediate vicinity of their home/territory already... so, having thoughts about beyond the limit of the planet and the sky above (without having even the concept and comprehension of "planet"), that's far much beyond what primitives animals (even on our ancestors) could probably do. Not that animals that are struggling/fighting on daily basis to not go extinct couldn't spare a few seconds to look at stars in the skies, but I believe they just don't understand what they were looking at (or just didn't care). Though, I think our ancestors around early cavemen where possible of that. Because we have trace that they were capable of "representation" of things (painting) + early trace of spirituality (burying their loved ones, which means a grasping concept of death and questioning what is beyond... And if one has an understanding of death and has rituals around it, it surely is capable of questioning the sky above them beyond just "shiny thing above me gives light")

I most certainly did when playing. I remember early on when I had just gone a little further past the first swamp and had reached the larger lake area with the Croc island in the center, I was sitting in one of the trees and just scouting the area out. After I finished doing that, I looked up and the music slowly kicked in and I turned off my hud, and it looked like a cutscene of my Hominid gazing at the sky with curiosity, especially when the animation lined up with a shooting star. It was one of the more beautiful moments in the game

Generally, it is symbolic; at the beginning of the song, vocals can be heard that may sound like "Somebody. I'm always here. Just somebody", while on the screen we see a hominid looking into the night sky, looking for someone from outside the universe who can join in and help. At this time, plants began to wilt in Africa and there was a shortage of fruits and mushrooms, which is why a person appeared as a result, starting to eat meat. I have no idea if you thought it through, but I think it's very beautiful.

The game is meant to represent Neogene Africa’s flora and fauna, 10 to 2 million years ago... not from the dinosaur era (230+ to 66 million years ago)
