Hurst Shifter Install / WS6 Trans Am / T-56 Transmission

Maybe do the brass cup upgrade instead of the plastic one. I like the tick shifter just cause of the o-ring deal where you don't need to put RTV on install. Never tried the hurst but I do like how it looks better than any of the other shifters out there.

I'm new to this car so, I appreciate the advice on the brass cup upgrade. I may have to look into swapping it one day. I love to look of the Hurst too. It seems to work very well so far. Way better than that MGW that was in there. I'm sure those are good shifters, but seemed very tight and hard to get into gear.

@Sergeant Zoomie only problem with the brass cup upgrade is you will feel/hear more of the clutch and transmission

The Hurst is like butter compared to the MGW, I don't know why. I still have the MGW. It wouldn't go into gear easily at all.

@@sergeantzoomie I have the mgw in my ws6. Thinking about the hurst billet plus. I just don't like mgw at all.

@@FTsingos I really like the mine. It was the Hurst Billet Plus part # 3915061. The MGW is what was in the car when I bought it. It was really hard to get into gear. The Husrt was night and day different, it was way smoother.

@Sergeant Zoomie you sold me. I'm getting rid of the mgw. I have NO idea why it's the holy grail for the 4th gen manual transmission guys.

Is there anything you adjusted when you put it in? Because mine I was told is what caused my transmission to go out because there were no “stoppers” on it. Idk what those are so I’ve been trying to figure out how to make it not destroy my transmission again..

The only thing I adjusted was the 2 set screws that were just below the shifter boot. There was one in the front, and one in the back. I adjusted them so that when the shifter was being shifted forward or being pulled back it would touch the screw. I adjusted them in till they just touched the shifter, then backed them off a half a turn and locked them down. My guess is the keep the shifter from over extending.
