Just because Riley was hurting Maya turned away Lucas and it just seems like another moment of sadness she goes through with the joy and good part of her life being moments with Riley and her friends. It's why the line: “I owe you an apology Miss Hart.” with her reply being “Everybody does.” hit you differen't knowing all the rough patches she's had in life. It's not about losing or having everything. That's not the point of Girl Meets World. From a writer's pov, it's about Maya and Riley found something as they grow up. Lessons learn, love of family, friends and opportunities. In ways... Riley's story is nothing like Boy Meets World. If you notice, it's more towards Jane Austen's Emma/Clueless. And Maya is about holding on to hope (Jane Austen's Persuasion). It's pretty obvious that Riley is going to end up with Farkle. But the main story as well, will Maya fall in love with Lucas again, whom she once fell for real once. Is her real feelings the same for Josh?

I honestly think Lucas and Maya are better together. Ok Riley had a crush on Lucas first, but there is a love triangle as early as season 1 and we see it in almost every episode. The story goes on and I feel a big chemistry between Lucas and Maya than between Lucas and Riley. I understand that this is the main character but she has a perfect life, a perfect family. Which is quite the opposite for Maya. Morals would have been a lot better if Riley knew the harshness and reality of life (the broken heart) and if Maya knew that life is more than disappointment and that she would know true love. Maya was afraid of her feelings and she sacrificed herself for Riley. I think Lucas didn't have enough time to make up his mind. He didn't know what to do because he liked both. The quote says "If you love two people at the same time, choose the second. Because if you really loved the first, you never would have had feelings for the second." . I wonder if Lucas would have reconsidered his decision if there had been other seasons. I think Maya has loved Lucas from the start but she was so scared of losing riley and has no trust in love that she didn't say anything.

I love how In the scene where maya goes quit looking at us huckleberry then he says I’m sorry YOU look good he was saying it abt maya he didn’t even compliment riley now that’s how you can tell he loves her!!!!
