Because Canada's provinces work under spousal support law; it assumes the partner with the lower income has sacrificed enough to justify spousal support, and accounts for years of partnership. Provinces like ON, the Law doesn't care at all about all these KZbin drama scenes. After you separate and divorce, it's about ensuring spousal support to ensure you can start your separated life with enough financial support. And that's based on what each income is; during a marriage, it's seen as the same no matter whose name it's under, but separation, it isn't. Affairs that aren't specifically financial abuse, the Law doesn't care at all. Also, our courts do the very opposite of this video... if you insist on kicking out your spouse of your matrimonial home, our courts don't look favorably at you... as you both have an interest in the matrimonial home, regardless whose name it's under. However, you do have to establish how you'll separate if that's what you do.
