AFTERMATH IDEA: After Nancy divorced Stuart and was given sole custody of Kiera, she and Kiera used the inheritance money to buy a simple house. They also used the inheritance for the planned vacation. Then Nancy started a job as a real estate agent which really skyrocketed. She ended up making so much money that she invested it and ended up earning an astonishing $50 million. She bought and moved into a nice beach mansion, where she and Kiera are currently staying. Nancy also then met and married a handsome, but incredibly sweet man who not only became a good husband to Nancy, but also an amazing father figure to Kiera. He gave Nancy and Kiera all the things that Stuart never gave them. Speaking of Stuart, he struggled once on his own. His drinking got so out of control that he ended up becoming abusive to his mistress Lauren. He then got sent to jail for domestic violence and was beaten up by inmates after they found out about what he did. After Stuart was released, Lauren broke up with him. But Stuart's drinking habits continued and he even spent all of his taxpayer and rent money on more alcohol. He eventually ended up getting most of his belongings repossessed and he got evicted from his apartment. He is currently homeless and ousted from his own family, where he currently regrets his actions and how he treated his family and Lauren.

Stuart was going though a mid life crisis. He had a right to have his alone time or a break. However, you still have to be responsible: you can't abandon your job or cheat on your spouse. No excuses there: drunk or not drunk. He let his wife know he needed a break, he should have let his job know also; and most of all not cheat. It was only implied that he cheated though.
