I agree with you, celebrate whatever part of yourself you want to celebrate weather it's minor or major, I have a small amount of Native American ancestry and I celebrate it very much, my grandmother was Cherokee and very proud of it so I carry it on.

My paternal grandfather was born in Belize but his father was born in India. Both of my parents were born in Honduras. I was born in the US. I did my ancestryDNA in 2013 but my parents refuse to do the test.

Endogamy is common in island nations. My mother-in-law was from Newfoundland and her paternal grandparents were 2nd cousins. Most people have it in their tree somewhere, especially if they can trace back to colonial America or Canada. Marriage options were limited back then. Anyone who makes disparaging comments are ignorant of history. Thank you for sharing your story.

Take a screen shot or write it down. You are so nice & funny! Yes; test mom & dad! I tested my mom & finally her brother! Found out we have Ethiopian DNA on my mom’s dad side; but my mom didn’t get it, only her brother (so it’s from the Y chromosome); women don’t get DNA from the Y chromosome only the sons! That explains the draft card my paternal grandfather wrote next to race: ETHIOPIAN!
