One thing I will never forget as I was learning to lead others and put teams together. My boss asked, do you have the right people on the bus? Are the people in the right seats? You may need to stop and let a few people off and you may need to rearrange where people are sitting.

You may not like Cignetti's confidence but all his players do. He has short, efficient practices- doesn't waste their time and tells them exactly where they stand. They appreciate his honesty. Many of the best players were ZERO stars coming out of high school. Kamara is a 260 pound quick twitch balling ball defensive tackle/end that was a high school fullback. Sarratt, the best wide receiver, was not recruited and spend a year at D3. Fischer, the middle linebacker, was a zero star too. All those guys will play in the NFL. The staff knows what they are looking for- they want production over measurables. And they know their strength and conditioning will make them faster and stronger. What IU did to Nebraska is not really different from what they've done to everyone on the schedule. They play really fast, really physical and somehow almost mistake free. The Nebraska game was special- the first dropped pass of the year! The kicker hasn't missed a field goal or extra point. Cignetti wills the team to have his confidence. We know he is probably gone at the end of the year for an elite program. But for now, we're enjoying the ride!

He's 64 he isn't leaving. coaches under him will get poached, but Indiana can afford to pay him whatever he wants. Why go to a big school when he's putting up big school numbers and likey be in CFP? Indiana would literally build a statue of him . He won't get that anywhere else.

@@tommybaker132 IU bleeds the football program to pay for basketball. Our basketball is like Nebraska football- paying a bunch of money trying to get back to former glory. No one at IU thought Cignetti's age was an issue last year. Somehow I don't think 1 more year will make everyone think he's too old although I hope they do. His OC and DC have been with him almost a decade each. They seem like a package deal. Auburn, Florida, Arkansas can easily double his $4.5 MM base. Not sure IU can match or would be willing to match. Our history is to hire ex coordinators as head coaches on the cheap and then say nobody follows football when those coaches fail.

Idk how nobody saw this coming. I wrote about it time and again in August. People expected Nebraska to be so great while also returning a garbage offensive line and with a defense who played basically nobody last year. It was also obvious IU was gonna make a big leap. Everybody just wants Nebraska to be better, but it isn't gonna happen with these players or Satterfield. I mean, look at Raiola. Kid has only regressed. That's coaching. I predicted 5-7 and am sticking to it.

@coltsjason I agree. I wrote detailed predictions based upon Nebraska's returning players and last year's opponents. To me, it was obvious this team was a paper tiger. The Huskers could beat teams with less athleticism, but if an experienced team with athletic depth lined up opposite NU's line, it would be bad. Saying that as a Nebraska fan...you'd have thought I was standing in a church speaking against the Bible.

As bad as it was... Half of the damage was done with a backup quarterback. I realized we should be careful setting precedence based on one example... But Cignetti has clearly shown that you don't need five star offensive tackles to improve your team through the portal... A quality three star if you will, a quality starter after 3 or 4 years... Can sure make a heck of a difference on your o line. I don't want to hear anymore about it's hard to find Olinemen in the portal.... There are tackles out there at lower levels that are better than what we have..... It's been 25 years since we've had any depth on the o-line... Maybe we should overstock the cupboard there for once. Would it really hurt us to bring in two or three fourth year guys and keep them on the roster? They would at least improve competition and practice at the very least. We have what 40 DBs/athletes on our roster... I don't think a few extra O linemen were hurt

Bill Busch is sitting in Lincoln at a radio station without a job. He worked the special teams and defense a couple times, lately for Mickey Joseph's interim tenure just in '22. He helped upset Iowa and end the season on a high note. We were kicking FGs a helluva lot better. He needs to be considered, and not brushed off like some of the media says. He can step in, assess the issues and correct this thing before the season ends. Give it some consideration at least.

There are only 4 teams left in contention for the B1G championship game: Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State and Indiana. If Michigan loses to Michigan State next week, they will finish with a losing record. Nebraska's crucial game at this point is UCLA. They are the worst team left on the schedule. Win and get bowl eligible, then anything more is gravy. Lose that game and it will be like last year, going into each game hoping for that sixth win.

Granted they didn't get in the and zone so you could say it was grea. Bend don't break D. With the quality of players we supposedly have on the defense.... I'll ask the question. Is Tony White really a defensive genius or is he a system guy? Can't say I was too impressed when early in the game, Indiana was inside the five and we trottled out the same 3 D lineman. Where's the beef?

@deansund8493: Someone’s still drinking the Rhule-aide and living in dreamland. Kansas would be greatly favored to beat Nebraska, but was losing to CU with 3 min to go and needed an improbable 50 yard pass to win 31-28. Last week, NU -49 and CU +27 (to Arizona, who was predicted 4th in BIG 12). CU laid an egg against NU, just like NU did against IU. … at a neutral site, a CU/NU game would be a “pick-em”

@JK-hm1sd
@JK-hm1sd 2 ай бұрын
@deansund8493: Some info to consider …I think you are half-right / half-wrong. You’re right that MAGIC Isn’t The Reason Shedeur Sanders would have more time to pick apart NU’s defense by passing the ball. LOGIC and EVIDENCE are the reasons. It was only CU’s second game using an offensive line with 5 guys who hadn’t played together before. … Their True Freshman left tackle graded very low in his 2nd game, (as did their red-shirt freshman center) but since then, he has greatly improved (unlike Dylan Raiola). Since the NU game he has exceeded all expectations. His PFF grade is above 80% and as a group, CU’s offensive line is rated near there. LOGICALLY, it makes sense that CU’s QB would have more time to throw the ball if CU and NU played again, since CU’s offensive line has spent over half a season working together (and also since the running game has improved) - the EVIDENCE shows this is true. It isn’t just the offensive line that has improved. CU has the 6th best defense in second-half scoring (6.2 pts.-> against good offenses) See: www.teamrankings.com/college-football/stat/opponent-2nd-half-points-per-game … Last Saturday, Arizona’s touted offense with Fifita and T-Mac only scored 7 points in the game. CU’s offense and defense are much better than they were in week 2 … NU’s are not. Nebraska would not be favored if they played CU again this season.

I am going to bring up an extremely unpopular topic But there are 4 elements to the game that are important not 3. Offense, Defense, Special Teams and adjusting to how the game is being officiated. The last stage is the one Nebraska is clearly struggling with the most. Here are a few examples. First drive an IUs first big first run. The pulling guard blocked Bullock in the back and freed the running back from a no gain to a 40 yard run. This occurred on multiple other runs but we never adjusted especially to take advantage of it on offense. It was being called on the skill positions but not on the lineman. "Hug" blocking was a constantly not being called. It was constant, you could see it virtually on any play IU was on offense. Great example is Rourke injured his thumb due to a "hug" block or else he was sacked by the sackman. Add some "hug" blocking on our side and Raiola gets a lot more time. Klatt commented about our receivers not creating separation, but IU was. IU receivers were getting separation because they pushed off. Despite it not being called I never seen one of our receivers push off to create separation. We need to adjust. There was more, but these 3 were huge. I am glad Rhule got the foul he did, but ultimately the games are called the way they are called and we need to adjust to how they are called. We need paid analyst on staff that are looking solely at how the game is being called and we need to adjust. All that said we lost because we gave up and played apathetically.

Iowa always scares me because they know they are.... They are disciplined... And THEY KNOW they will beat us. THEY HAVE THE MINDSET AND WE DON'T. All Iowa needs to do is run the ball, play good defense and special teams... Wait for us to make a few mistakes... And then they'll get two or three touchdowns when were you mentally break down and they will run away with the game. Sadly....thats history.

And the Defense? I always thought the 3 3 5 was best suited for the big 12. Hell in every game they get chunked till the opponent gets down inside the 20 yard line. If Arizona State can come out on national media and say “hey our kicker sucks ASS and we don’t have anyone else so come on out and try out for kicker positions.” We can too. Alvano is either is in his own head too deep and get stage fright or his groin/leg is actually fubar. Long-snapper needs to be addressed too. So does holder.
