In this video we will take you to the small village named Äkäslompolo, which is located in Lapland, Finland.
Like many other people, going to Lapland was on our bucket list and we didn't regret it! Clean air, nice people and off course: Huskies, Reindeers and Northern Lights! We went quite late in the season, early to mid March, so temperatures where already quickly rising. We went on a couple of hikes and a snowmobile, but for us personally, we liked the animals the most.
Especially the huskies stole our hearts: they were all very kind in nature and have a real passion for running in the snow. You will see they are very excited to go travel through snowy landscapes. We had 5 huskies per sled and they had different tasks / qualities: The 2 dogs in front are the leaders and determine direction. The 2 in the back are the powerhouses and the one in the middle determines the overall speed and control. They run up to 35 km/h but with the temperatures and snow quality we had (a little icy), they went around half of that speed.
