Today we're taking a look at the Husky 4.5 Gallon Silent Air Compressor from Home Depot, model 3320445. From my brief time with the unit, I found it to live up to it's claim of an 80% reduction in noise. Furthermore, it's got a nice quick recharge time and a handy set of wheels built in.

Wow! Your super in-depth review has sold me on this air compressor! Well, the fact that it's indeed 80% quieter than the competition truly sold me. I was about to purchase that 6 GAL pancake-style compressor, but Jesus Christ, I'm glad I didn't! that thing is super loud and would've immediately turned me off to it. Thanks again for the 1000/10 review!

Just for what its worth, at 2:37 that is not an exhaust. There is no exhaust except for the compressed air outlet on electrically driven air compressors. That is an air inlet filter for that piston, and appears to be the Solberg design or at least similar to it.

I am in the market for a compressors. I am also a novice and I want one that can handle more than just filling air in the tires. You use a 3/8 inch line with an air wrench, which was one thing no one seemed to explain about hose sizes and their limitations or capabilities. This unit looks like a good purchase for me. Good video and thanks! Still a bit confusing but I will learn!

Hose size is important. A 1/4" line will turn an air wrench, but won't spin it up enough to actually do much work.

Hey thanks a lot for the video, I really appreciate your work here! You also made me realise that maximum pressure is also important! On a side note, your calculation is slightly wrong since you have to use absolute pressure, but the compressor gives you gauge pressure, so you have to add 175+14.7. For all intents and purposes it doesn't really matter but hey it can't hurt to use the formula correctly :)

Keep in mind you could also add an auxiliary tank if you found you needed more air to get it done.

I noticed the Porter Cable compressor did run around a little bit from vibration & the Husky did not run around because the vibrations are isolated by the rubber feet.

So long as you have a reliable 110v power source handy it would work very well. And it wouldn't disturb local patrons due to being very quite.

Have you tried any HVLP paint guns with this compressor? I'm thinking of getting one of these and a spray gun to paint some custom furniture projects. The gun I have in mind says it needs 4.0 scfm @ 40psi. Does this compressor deliver that even if it's clicked on?
@aaronstestlab
@aaronstestlab 3 жыл бұрын
Runs 3cfm@90, probably a bit more at 40. Intermittent HVLP is probably fine. Heavy use I'd go with a bigger compressor or purpose-built HVLP blower.

yeah the flexible air hoses are the number one hose if you like your air hoses full of holes. they puncture so easily. also when they are full of air they are not vary friendly to roll up. I don't recommend. I want to like them so badly because the name is awesome and they look cool but don't like buy products that cant handle the construction site as well as woman and children. (she drives over anything and anything in her way and the kids are well they kids and if it can be broken and destroyed chances are its a goner if they get their grubby little sticky mitts on it. (cant be mad because they are so darn cute. and she would be kicked to the curb if she wasn't so damn sexy.)a

Everything has advantages and disadvanages. I prefer a lighter, more flexible hose that may also be less durable. Other people might like it the other way around.

You all make good points. I agree for us regular folk using something non-impact would extend the service life and possibly prevent costly repairs. And for professional racers, the speed of impact tools is a necessity, so replacing lugs or studs regularly is just part of the costs of admission. Our parent company ran the 78 car (NASCAR) a few blocks from where I worked, the cars get pretty heavily worked over after each race. I enjoyed the video, thanks for posting it. I did cringe a bit when you used the nail gun. I wouldn't trust myself without steel toes on shooting them into that narrow beam.
