You are the best at explaining everything. Even if I never port a saw it is interesting stuff. Maybe one day I will try one. Before I started watching you I had no idea how a saw worked. Thanks for all the explanations. About time for a story. Love the stories.

I'm glad I found this channel. This is an older video but filling that decomp hole with JB weld to prevent some compression loss is a detail you won't find on many other channels. I really like the attention to the fine details on these builds. Thank you.
@em47032 жыл бұрын
You must be new. There are better channels with actual porters, this guy sadly ain't it. Unless you want a chainsaw that makes a lot of noise and have subpar compression and some scratchy ports for 600+ bucks.

That is a great trick for the decompressor hole. I put a 72 cc cylinder on my Jonsered 630 with some amateur port work done by me. And when I put the plug in the decomp hole I was wondering about doing something like this. But I didn't, But man it runs good! I guess if for some reason I have to take the cylinder off again i will have to jb weld that hole. Thanks Harvey!

HEY HARVEY, I DID MY 61, STILL WAITING FOR THE HOLZFORMA OEM INTAKE BLOCK GASKETS. SO WHAT DID I DO? SAW A PIONEER "PRO" 4620 (NOT THE PLASTIC CHAIN ADJUSTER MODEL)FOR SALE BY A GUY WHO COULDN'T GET SATISFACTION WITH IT-OIL LEAKS, ETC., BUT IT HAS A HARD-CHROMED CYLINDER SO THEY CAN RUN IT LEAN, GOOD COMPRESSION, AND HE BOUGHT IT NEW. AND I WANTED A BACK-UP, OR A SECOND SAW IF I EVER WERE TO HAVE HELP DOING FIREWOOD, (FAT CHANCE OF THAT!:). I HAD $25 OM ME, SO I NOW OWN IT. NEXT ONE I WANT IS AN OLD 395 OR A STIHL O56, BOTH OF WHICH I OWNED WHEN I WAS LOGGING. I'VE GOT A LITTLE "ONE-HANDER" STIHL 180C WITH A 14" BAR FOR CLIMBING, SO A "BIG FALLER" IS ALL THAT'S NEEDED TO BE "ALL SAWED-UP" FOR WHATEVER. GOT A WALNUT GROVE TO TAKE-OUT FOR A GUY, AND GET A FEW YEARS AHEAD ON MY FIREWOOD FOR ONCE...HARVEY, YOU AND TINMAN GAVE ME KNOWLEDGE I WISH I HAD BACK THEN. BUT HEY, AT 66, I KNOW I'LL APPRECIATE THE GIFT EVEN MORE. THANK YOU BOTH SO MUCH!

Hey Harvey You should do a video on clutches and bar+chain combinations!? There not really any videos on that.
@ericharris8934 жыл бұрын
Iron horse should do this. There’s power on the table there. I’d like to hear his knowledge. I must say, I played around a little and a fast saw has a 325 chain and a short bar with an extra tooth on the sprocket. But I done know much. I understand simple physics and that’s what I came up with and boy it sure did speed up the cutting on an echo I played with. I sold it it really was gutless after everything. Every echo I ever had was gutless. Good workers but lackin in the extra power department.
@Ketis19854 жыл бұрын
That 272 cylinder propably wont go under the white top without some modifications? How do you like open port cylinders like 61s in general? Im building Jonsered 525 with 535 engine. It was not straight bolt on, cylinder needed some lathe work. Im building it stock other than having a 2ccs more displacement, but im building it more for sentimental reasons than perfomance since my father had 525.

Germany is still here and waiting for the Portingjob! Just found a Husky 61 on garbage with lose carb. Tightened it and changed the Piston to a Meteor . Piston was a bit scored caused of the airleak by the lose Carb. Ran perfektly and has been sold to a new Owner. Watch my Chanel with Piped Solo 651 with screaning clutchbearing😂 and wearing Bunnyboots. Learned a lot from your Videos, keep on ! Best Regards

What's the difference with the husq 61 top colors? I've seen white, black, and orange so far, but is there some way of telling the age of these saws by the colors too? I just bought a pretty rough 61 with a black top that I'ld like to make a project out of but am still trying to learn more about them.

It is not good to put any two components of glue (2k metal) on the decompressor, at full operating temperature, part of that glue can be torn off to destroy the piston and cylinder. Just tighten the screw.
