As usual story time did NOT disappoint! It reminds me of one of my grandpas old stories. When he was a kid his brothers and him grew up half wild, barefoot hillbilly children in the Ozarks. One day they found a flying squirrel while they were playing in the woods and they brought it home, kept it as a pet and even trained it to jump down onto his shoulder. Only problem was that squirrel liked to burrow under the sofa cushions. Well great grandpa was a preacher and great grandma was a preachers wife, and one day she brought home some rather well fed ladies from the church... Well long story short the poor little guy found himself on the wrong end of a seat cushion, between a rotund woman and a hard place, and met Jesus first hand in that prayer meeting.

Harv I remember my dad talking about logging in 1979-80. They skidded with a tractor and had a couple of trucks with booms on them that they used for the pulp wood. He said they’d work all week and the truck or tractor wood break down it would take most of what they made to fix it. The economy was crap back then but as a 4-5 yr old I thought it was the best times ever lol. Getting to go in the logging woods with my daddy,uncle and grandpa was the best memories. Great video btw!

Always enjoy the stories Harvey. I have a small story of my own nothing special just a lesson on how sometimes different people can find common ground. Last year me and my uncle went on a tractor ride. My uncle's tractor was a late model 530 Case so to let me have a tractor for the ride I needed something small to fit on the trailer. The only good tractor I had that fit was a Deutz Allis 6240 and thats what I took. Got to the start off place unloaded the tractors. A while later I noticed someone looking at my machine knowing most people around here don't know much about them I walked up to the man. He asked "is this yours" I said yes then he asked "Is the tractor air-cooled" I said sure is. He was interested in the tractor because he ran a log skidder with a similar engine. Had a good chat before and after the ride. I find it interesting that if I didn't bring an "oddball" tractor to the ride I probably wouldn't have spoken a word to that man.

Tricky saw to work the transfers on but it turned out pretty impressive after an IH Imitation intake job and a touch of exhaust work and muffler improving , going to run it against the 028 super tomorrow haha ! Going by feel the 028 will have its work cut out for it . Next will be the 61/272 and a pre x 365 . This series will be a big help ! Thank you sir !

What are your thought on a Jonsered Super 670? Truthfully I accidentally won it at a estate auction, brought it to a saw shop, everything was good, compression is great. I live in Alaska, I harvest fire wood from the Yukon river(drift wood) where I live, I harvest black/white spruce. It’s bone stock. I usually run it in the in the warmers months spring, summer and fall. I love my 044 it’ll run all day in -50F Looking to make a good working saw. Looking for advice. I port snowmobile motors, this is new compared to a 250cc or bigger cylinder, thank you for your advice. Love the great stories!

Hey ironhorse, everyone. I recently picked up a well used but not abused black top 61, a 1988 looks like. Anyway, I noticed it's not oiling well, so I popped the cap off to look and see where the pickup was laying, and noticed the bar oil was VERY murky. I couldn't see the pickup at all. Now I did add bar oil, but maybe only 1/3 of the tank to fill it from how I got it. Any Idea what would cause the oil to get murky? hoping it's not the pump being destroyed and just grinding itself up and spitting the shavings back into the tank. The murk does not sparkle though.

I've learned so much watching what you do and can't wait to put it into practice. Have you done any Husky 460 Rancher vids? Was gifted a straight gassed 455 so to 460 it made sense. Factory jug and piston, figured I would ask your opinion. Thank you.

The bobcat story was like listening to my Dad, I have a pre emissions 365 that I love, I also have a 61 white top. How can a 272 top end fit a 61 without machining? I would expect the cylinder bases to be different.
@jacobrowe5152 жыл бұрын
You don't need to machine anything for it to fit, the only thing you need to machine the cylinder or piston for is if you want that pop up, better port timing and more compression but if you wanted just to put a 272 top end on your 61 you don't need to machine anything

I a novice with chainsaws. I am old farm boy . I cut a lot of firewood . Ruined my folks chainsaws growing up. I still have them and want to restore them someday . I like working on my own stuff . I watched some of your videos and I can’t keep up . I am not in the life I use to be and wish I knew then what I know now . Would you have any advice for some one like me . Who is really mechanically inclined but wants to tinker with chainsaws and doesn’t really know . I born raised in rural CA and feel a dying breed . Most every one in the state would think I am red neck , but I am not . I am just an original article that they look at me like i am the weirdo . That’s fine I will stay on my property. A chainsaw for firewood is a saw i need . Need a 20 inch bar and the torque to run it .
