It will be, but with an older animal, anesthesia is always more risky. It is at any age for animals, like us. But it will be good to give Sherpa's teeth a good, thorough clean while he's knocked out.

It's not the surgery that is the problem it is the anesthesia. But now they can really monitor the dog and ots not second hand surgery anymore. I would have confidence to get surgery from my vet... lol... no sherpa will be okay... he is a strong boy and very healthy. My girl her teeth are splendid. Don't know why, she have good teeth... 15 year and all her teeth in good shape. That's why the vet didn't knew how old she was. But now her minimum age is 15... so... if we calculate the "normal" age she would be 18/20 years... but her teeth are white and clean, doesn't have a smelly breath... so yes... I am going to shut up... waffling to much... lol

Thanks for noticing his teeth. It's the one thing so many pet parents don't pay as much attention to, and bad teeth can be so painful, leading to infection and gum disease. You're a good dad for Sherp.

My 13 year old pup went to have his teeth cleaned and rotten teeth removed. They did pre-op blood work and he sailed through the procedure. This will help his heart as well, as the amount of bacteria will be lessened. Good luck Sherpa.
