Husqvarna 522iHD75 Commercial Battery Hedger Review (updated)

We look at the brand new Husqvarna 522iHD75 battery powered commercial hedger and its performance in the field. This hedger is an absolute weapon and we love it. With a blade speed of 4400 cpm and that extra long 75cm blade, it's unreal and makes hedging so much better!

Excellent video & explanation as always. Love the way you let us viewers hear the machine… as opposed to pounding musak! Just had my hands on the (newish) ECHO dhc-2800r. Also very impressive. These commercial battery hedgers are really getting there. Might be worth a future comparison?

Good review. What's the battery life like on this thing? How many do you go through on a large job? What's the charge time?

Thanks. Battery life is good, I use the BLi200 in it mostly and with 4 of those you’ll be good for a days worth of hedging pretty much. Charges up in about 30 mins on the QC500. Cheers

Really great review. I am torn between the HD75 and the HDR60, with the main difference being Trim Cut Blades vs Course Cut Blades. I have a very overgrown garden with lots of brambles. I want to clear those, which makes me lean towards the HDR, but once they are clear I don't suspect I will need to do that again, and the HD would be better longer term. Would the HD75 be able to handle brambles and thicker twigs / branches under 30cm, or would I ruin it by using it for this purpose and blunt the blades?

Thanks mate, I’d say the HD75 would be fine to get through the thicker stuff if it’s just sort of one off and then you have the better hedger for the maintenance stuff. Easy to sharpen the blades again afterwards if it does blunt them a little bit I doubt it will. Although I haven’t seen your garden lol. Might better clearing the brambles with a blade on the line trimmer?

How does this stack up against the 522HDR75X? I get about an hour of run time, and only a few seconds to refuel. It will also go through an inch and a half if necessary!

I haven’t used a petrol hedger in about 3 years mate. Can’t imagine I ever will to be honest. I haven’t compared that particular one but I doubt you’d be disappointed.

What’s the difference between 522ihd 60 and 75. Only see the 60 in USA

Bar length, 60cm vs 75cm and the type of trimming they are designed for. One is for course thicker hedges with different gearing, and the other is for more regular maintained trimming with a higher blade speed. Cheers

As a stand alone tool for a home owner or a young business, yes it could be considered expensive. From an established business perspective, this tool earns us thousands of dollars a week, from that perspective it’s worth every penny and I would rather invest / pay a bit more for quality gear that will last. I’m not making money if the tools aren’t working! Cheers
