In this video we will look at a Husqvarna 572XP chainsaw owned by fellow KZbinr Chris of In The Woodyard. His complaint is that the saw barely runs or is very low on power. Lets fix it! #smallenginerepair @InTheWoodyard

Scott,your opinion on the 572 Husky and 462 Stihl ,need a solid opinion which one I should buy ? You have the experience I don't, please advise Gunter As I'm only firewood cutting contemplating also looking at the 400 Stihl ,wondering the two mentioned above might be too powerful?

Great work as usual. When I purchased my 572XP the seller ( 30 years in the business ) told me that 50:1 mix ratio was a bad idea and that such a lean mix would cook the motor. I asked why would both Husky and Stihl and others stipulate 50:1 if it was detrimental to the machine? He said that it was all about European emissions controls and nothing to do with better oils or machine design. This still makes no sense because if saws are getting cooked because of 50:1 ( he told me he had had saws come back cooked after a few weeks due to lean mix ) would that not create a tsunami of warranties which would be a financial disaster. I have been using 40:1 with either Shindaiwa or Husqvarna LS+ through all my 2 cycle engines and have not experienced any problems. He actually recommended 25:1 which I consider to be essentially a smoke machine. So since then I have been using 35:1 which is as he said " better than 50:1. What do you think?
@TheGreasyShopRag7 ай бұрын
I won't argue that a little more oil isn't better. BUT, I've never seen an engine "cooked" because of 50:1. Theres always a reason for a failure and most of the time its dirt ingestion or a lean condition caused by or an air leak, not a gas/oil ratio if its 50:1 or richer and quaulity oil. I add that last part because nearby we have a little company called Mercury Marine and a lot of faithful followers. I've seen a few two cycle engines that were roached from using marine oil which wasn't designed to stand up to the high temps of an air cooled engine. I also agree that these engine manufacturers wouldn't offer five year warranties on their equipment if they knew 50:1 was going to cook them.
@gobangs11177 ай бұрын
@@TheGreasyShopRag Thanks for the prompt reply. You pretty much confirm my thoughts. I'll go back to using 40:1 because I have so many from China that probably need that extra bit of lube. The engine on my leaf blower is twenty years old and still in great shape using 40:1 Shindaiwa. Cheers.
