I mean for 1500-2000 brand new... I'm not sure anyone expects em to be a japanese or euro bike. I'd only ever recommend them to people who are mechanically inclined and don't mind fixing things themselves. They make good bikes to learn on due to being so cheap if you wreck it lol but like you said, "disposable bikes" lol.
@MotoInsiders4 жыл бұрын
True. But that's money you'll never see again. Put that down on a real bike and finance, then your bike is still worth something in the end. I'd rather pay 10k to have something solid and reliable. Than to waste 2k on a turd that never runs for more than a day without an issue haha.

Considering 701 SM or Svartpilen.( huge $ incentive now on the Svart701) also looking at sister KTM 690 SMC R. ( Nice styling 👍🏻) Any recommendations? I’m 57 & have been riding my whole life. Nice review man. What do you think about the 2020 model with new tech and color?
@MotoInsiders4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I hate that I missed on the quickshifter (dont really need it, but its cool.) Honestly if the whole bike would have been grey I'd be into it, but the one grey fairing and one white just doesnt flow. I love my color scheme. Dont care for power modes or traction control, I'm full power all the time and the bike rarely loses traction, and when you do it's an easy recovery. There's enough chassis flex to soak up any accidental slides.

Buy the 2020 and handle the fairings later! Trust me. 2019 has ABS but the 2020 now has Traction control, 2 selectable power maps, and a quickshifter with auto blipper for downshifts. Amazing tech for such little money extra. You could put 2019 fairings on a 20. Or buy flou yellow fairings for the tail that looks sweet!

Also the new Apex 48 forks are a slight upgrade from the previous 48mm forks. Other small differences, frame is black instead of white now, handguards are not as nice but both should be replaced with full metal wrap arounds. I believe that's it but well worth it for the 2020. Wish mine had the quickshifter!

@MotoInsiders4 жыл бұрын
It takes everything that's great about motorcycles and puts it in one bike, not doing much offroad with the supermoto, throw on some enduro wheels for that. But supermotos in essence are a motocross bike with 17" wheels and street tires. Light weight, responsive chassis, massive torque/power to weight ratio, wheelie machine, great for stunts, more agile than a supersport on a tight track. Supermotos dont usually have much top end, but the acceleration is intense. The 701 though, tops out about 125 or 130 mph. It's also a little heavier than most supermotos, but is also the most powerful, this extra weight though does make the bike feel more planted on the road and less squirrely feeling that your typical supermoto. The power more than makes up for the weight, and it makes it a more comfortable street bike.

36 inch seat height to about 32 on the CBR. It's a different style of bike. Supermotos are lighter, more agile, and in this case have better suspension. This bike would pass 1000 supersports with ease on a technical track that favors acceleration over top speed.
