Great video. Does their developer API used into HA need re-authenticating after a while? And would Husqvana add a local API to their robot mowers in the future?

When filming this I was in contact with the tech support in Australia and also in Scandinavia, which was pretty cool. They actually installed Home Assist and made sure that the integration worked. :) I'm not aware of any re-authentication, but I will ask for you. As to local, doubtful, if I am honest. But again I will ask, as it would be very nice :)

Great overview thanks, been hunting for a while for an affordable mower that integrates into HA. Just bought the R4 online tonight based on your video, perfect size for my lawn, ha integration (albeit via developer tools) and good price point. will see how it goes… If you happen to speak to Husqvarna again, tell them they made a sale specifically because of home automation integration. Really don’t understand why vendors don’t do this free and as standard, they would sell so much more product, cheers from NZ!

I don't think you will be disappointed. It was a great robot mower with features well ahead of the rest. The tracking system I mentioned in the video was amazing, I think I called in black magic. Let us know how it turns out :)

@@chimeranzl9147 Hey mate. I am also looking for a robotic mower in NZ. Are you happy with the R4? Where did you buy it from in NZ and if you don’t mind me asking the price? Did you do a self install of wiring and is it easy and what tools did you use to dig up lawn to lay the wire or got a pro to do the wiring install? Thanks

@@techwhizard Weird I just replied but comment disappeared.. anyways yeah I'm Auckland based and bought the R4 and very happy with it. Used a flat end spade to "open a cut" in the ground (eg push spade in, wobble forward and back) and laid cable in that. Easy just time consuming. Also comes with heaps of stakes so used those under a hedge where I couldnt get spade into ground (grass eventually grows over it) Very happy with it, cost $1599 + delivery from City Honda in Manawatu. Cheapest place I found when googling it at the time.

@@techwhizard fkn youtube keeps deleting my reply... maybe coz I post the price? yes bought from city honda manawatu and installed myself. spade cut used to "open" a cut in the ground, easy just time consuming, also comes with stakes to hold boundary wire and guide wire down (basically install looks like a figure 8, with boundary wire 35mm in from outside of lawn perimeter, then guide wire through the centre of lawn. works really well, super happy with it!
