Firstly, great info, so thank you sir. Ok... i don't understand why Husky didn't rename the 550 and 562 mk2 to something else (551, or 563). After all they are completely different saws from crankcase to muffler (same applies to Stihl 462). Unfortunately, I am one of the statistics for a lemon 2018 550 mk1. Started fine, but wouldn't idle when warm. It would cut like a banshee, then randomly lose power and die at wide open throttle (very infrequent, and sometimes it would be fine for hours). It'd always restart fine, but wouldn't idle. Two husky dealers told me it was fine, and that it had to break in. Finally a third dealer had it for 6 weeks. After getting it back, she ran fine for a few tanks of fuel, then started doing it all over again. ?!? Vac/pressure test is fine, compression is fine when hot. Now the warranty has expired, so I just deal with it. That being said, I love the saw. Its power, weight, and overall size is excellent for a 50cc. But, I miss my 346 NE. Lol.

Thanks Donny. Got a 2022 550mk2. It runs great as is but i wanted some extra fun with it. Getting it ported by a trusty guy here in Norway. My first thoughts is to get the heat out , sharp chain and don't be an idiot when running them.

Tks Donny for your time and problems with 5 and 3 series husqvarna. Yrs ago jonsered took 630 turn out the 2163 turbo the bearings went on bottom end . Little over $600 bill for a chainsaw shop to replace the bearings. 😊

HelloSir, Thanks again for your insite on those 5-series saws. It's like you are looking in my garage. I recently rescued a 2019 562 and a 2014 550. The 562 is getting a new oem top end and the 550 just needs a good cleaning. I may pick your brain on any upgrades the 550 may need to fix the air filter and heat issues. Take care my friend.

Thanks ur so honest I hope all is well keep up the great stuff....making guts from everything fit ms660 crank almost in my 372xp cases epoxy to fatten up the case for gasket sealing. Case is very thin. Got the 272xp crank in a 350 almost 360 rotation clear that's gonna be nice with my 450 tank on that saw. lots of fun the 288xp crankshaft when right in the 272xp case lots of mag then they made them case nice and heavy. Didn't fit the 54mm top on yet but close I can't just do one pro-ject ya know lol that's again for all the inspiration karts and all keep an rub down and wide open catch u when I can later.

Awesome information, brother man! I wish Husqvarna would listen to you and build a 75 - 77cc saw. I believe they would sell faster than they could make em. Stay safe, and God bless

Donny, is it wiser to purchase a 545 vs a 550 since the 545 does not rev as high or just go for the best and get the 550xp? Your wisdom is appreciated from Michigan.

It's too bad that "new developments" or "the latest new improvements" turn out to cost a man working in the words a lot of time and aggravation, not to mention down time and wasted time talking to dealers, while trying to get his saw up and running again. I'm thinking of my experience with the Stihl 500i, which I got rid of after just a few tanks of gas. Some of us don't have the time and energy to baby-sit a problem saw when we should be making money. This is the message Stihl and Husky need to hear.

We blew up a 562 do to the worthless decomp and now I see the new ones have no decomp. I appreciate your knowledge Donny. I figure a saw that blows up aint worth fixing because the time and labour and parts cost it is cheaper to buy new and avoid the issues.

Donnie, Great video as usual. I'm perplexed why Husqvarna stuck with seeing on the MKll revisions. The price of the bearings is just ridiculous, $80 for a set! HVe you had any issues with the 592? Here in North Central Ohio were seeing internal pieces of the muffler breaking off and being sucked into the cylinder along with a rash of boots tearing. Apparently the bellows on the boot don't allow movement until the AC limit stop is reached and tears the boot before that and of course the boots are back ordered. Your thoughts?

I purchased a 562xp mfg. In 2022 so what model would this be a Mark I or a Mark II ? This was a brand new saw in the box delivered to my house.

Hello Donny people don't have any clue how much time is involved in tearing a saw. Down for a rebuild or lower case repair , I live in Pennsylvania and occasionally a local saw shop reaches out to me Todo there warranty work and I charge $600 and that's cheap compared to buying a new saw

Ive come to the conclusion with this HUGE saw craze with yourself bucking Mike Morgan WCS guys ect ect. Lots of good people that increase folks to get into power saws. Witch is AWESOME!! However I know for sure LOTS of folks doing fire wood doing cutting channels doing anything with a power saw they are NEW to saws. Some of these videos blow my mind that a guy buys a 500i and its broken the first tank. USER ERRROR. Ive been running saws not a LONG time but more then a home owner and ALL my saws WORK AWESOME. I just have a feeling that a person that has NO real idea how to run a saw will end up breaking it or cooking it. There inexperience will lead to issues with the equipment.

I had to seriously look at and try to introduce, integrate and utilize these smaller size saws into my line up. However, I see too many 550, or the Stihl equivalent tools in vans and vehicles of tree care guys. And even though I only carry out this service for myself and don't operate a commercial thing. I'm watching what guys were using, and Instarted to ask myself am I missing something? And the answer is yes and no.
@anglingmailbox3236
@anglingmailbox3236 7 күн бұрын
Yes, I was wasting fuel, time, energy and chain sharp-ness by not having introduced more 40 and 50cc tools into my line-up a long time ago (and yes, for tree and hedgerow management I'm still learning the benefits of lighter tools for what I do). On the other hand, I'm in no illusions any longer than tree care guys are picking up lighter weight, speed racer types of instruments now, just because they're to hand. When the should be wading into certain tasks that do involve cutting some actual timber, with the regular larger sized tools we had all along. Are the larger tools heavier, more cumbersome, require more sharpening and care. Absolutely. And you're fuel expires in less time. All of that.
@anglingmailbox3236
@anglingmailbox3236 7 күн бұрын
Before I ever took my 550 out on trips to do work, I emptied tanks of fuel using it in my small log yard. I wasn't used to any bars shorter than 20 inch, or any chain kerf less than .058, and I'd no idea what .365 pitch was, or the seven pin sprockets etc. I can say that chain tension in a tool such as the 550 is something that becomes front of mind after a bit. Having used tanks of fuel in order to break in the saw, and find out what you can do with these tools, and what you cannot. The 550 is mainly something that I view as being useful, to get into areas where there's no need to haul a 365 or 372 with you. If all you're doing on that inclined terrain situation is area clearance and house keeping tasks. I'm going to make sure that my 50cc class tools are ready and functional for that. But I'd put that type of tool down if I saw any sort of timber that needed cutting.
@anglingmailbox3236
@anglingmailbox3236 7 күн бұрын
And that's how one keeps those smaller tools in good nick, and not run raged. I could see that in pre-deployment testing in the lumber yard side, before I ever took the tool out to the field with me. I wanted a tool that was light weight enough to bring with me, with enough fuel. In places where it was actually faster to walk to rather than bring a vehicle. But not for cutting wood. I think that's what's happened in tree care. They've got a 500i that is never brought out when it should. The hardest working pair of 540 top handle's you've ever seen. A heavy duty brush cutter or too. And a pair of 550's to do everything, which the 500i, the 540 top handle or the brush cutter can't do. And frankly, looking in the backs of these vans they're just missing a lot of 3/8 inch chain, bars and 3/8 power head tools that should be available to these workers. But aren't.
@anglingmailbox3236
@anglingmailbox3236 7 күн бұрын
For a long time I thought it was me who hadn't caught up with modern tree care, however having added a lot of these tools. In the 3/8 inch mini and short 15-inch bar length .325 inch pitch. At first I thought I'd made a mistake, as it makes for a lot more chain you have to carry. More bars, more standards and spec's of equipment you have to juggle with now (not everything is 3/8 inch, .058 kerf across the board). To be frank I'm running a 585 and I don't have .063 kerf bar and chain for it. Which is an omission on my part on the top end. But at least I'm covered to some extent on the mini, the .325 and basic 3/8 inch pitch stuff. I just look at how modern tree care and how it's gone (the reason they omitted all of their 3/8 inch heavier stuff, is because they wanted to go all light weight, compact and sleek). But there are tasks now getting done with the wrong tools. Because the right tools added more gear, and more time, expense to keep it going.

Marcus Luttrell has a phrase, high speed, low drag. Which kind of sums up the arborist's mentality. I had ten miles of hedgerow to worry about and fix for my own purposes. So after a hundred yards without being 'high speed, low drag', I figured it will be Christmas time two years away, by the time I get out of this job. Not December 2024. Which was my whole motivation for breaking in new tools. And it didn't take me longer to understand, one of the other 'saw wrench' Canadians I think mentioned it. Tools like the 550 run like ported racers. So heat is a thing (it was the 550 tool and using some bars and chains on it, which really forced me to pay attention to chains and tension level). In a way I hadn't done before, because I previously had had enough saw to pull a chain in 3/8 inch, that was tensioned too much I understand now. I could say some more about raker height and hardwoods, but I think this is a brief summary of my experience.

10 saws out of 100 with problems and you think this is OK. I have seen quite a few 562xp mk2 and 550 xp mk2 . This issue was meant to be fixed and clearly its not . Why have they stayed with this unreliable design on these bearings and seals . I can't argue when these saws are running properly they are hard to beat . I don't see echo or stihl saws with these issues why is that . Answer this truthfully if it was not for husqvarnas older saws and history and the company was only around from these 5 series saws would Pro users be buying them , if you were not a husqvarna dealer what would you be saying about them . If it was left to these new saws husqvarnas reputation would be as unreliable saws and that is the truth and what really amazes me is you think 10 out of 100 is OK for failures . You should be ashamed

The problem with the 550 is Husqvarna wants to out cut stihl so they tune the thing to run at over 15,000 RPMs and that's why it's eating bearings It will out cut the 261 but it won't last... one 261 will Outlast 4 or5/550 XP's
