Husqvarna T540 "Runs Sloppy"

In this video we will look at a Husqvarna T540 top handle chainsaw that came in because it "runs sloppy". Turns out it doesn't have a running issue at all. I'll show you what I found. #smallenginerepair

Seal all product works great. I’ve got dad’s antique push mower from the 60’s. Sealed the gas tank perfectly.

I used that seal all on a plastic gas tank for a boat once, three years 3 gallon tank still holding. I forgot about it. I tried epoxy and silicone they leaked but the seal all worked👍

The only purple oil I remember was Yamalube 2 cycle oil in the 80’s.

Interesting repair, haven't seen Seal All here in the UK.. I've repaired similar damage to fuel and oil tanks with the old Super glue and Bicarbonate of soda trick.. Great video as usual..

What i have done in the past is grind a v on the crack a bit and then use JB weld, works great. Nice explanation. I will try the seal all sometime.

Thanks for the video Scott. Depending on the type, epoxy can soften when exposed to heat, so maybe not a better solution than what you employed? As others have said, JB may hold too. A cracked case on a high use saw is on borrowed time anyway most times unless welded up? Prob uneconomical to fix then😢.

Robert Pirsig wrote a book called "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" in 1970 I believe. Its a very interesting read on life ,philosophy and mechanical maintenance. Pirsig decried how badly most of society back then had fallen from comprehension of mechanical things and the lack of respect or understanding for them and those who maintain them . Fast forward to 2024 and we have seem to have gotten exponentially worse.

First I recall of the sealer/glue was GoodYear Weld-Bond which we called Old Yeller. I now have tube of same thing called Honda Bond and have seen Yamma Bond too, It is pretty good, but on metal cracks I prefer JB Weld. I am kinda sloppy, maybe it would help me...

Poulan bar oil from Menards last year was purple. It was good oil at a good price. I see Menards has it again. Lowe’s has a battery Kobalt screwdriver on sale for about 20 bucks. Only 13 inch pounds but so far I think it’s a good deal. J B weld works good on aluminum if you can clean the oil off. Nice video

That screwdriver would probably be fine as long as it "holds" when turning manually to apply final torque.
