Great video! I made my own chute blocker from an old license plate on my exmark stander, but it is not motorized. I have been brainstorming on how to motorize it. I didnt even think of a power window motor! Duh!! Thank you so much! Thats exactly what I needed.

@@tingleslawnservice Actually this chute blocker is homemade because it’s mounted on the bagger assembly. There are some good name brand versions out there like Power Chute.

It all started with “Geek to Freak” having a manual chute blocker on this Ferris. I just expanded on it and kinda made it my own version with a motor.

Just had my 48 delivered today with the exact same bagger. Gonna follow this tutorial for the chute blocker. Could the installation of the chute blocker cause any issues as far as warranty coverage?

I had the same concerns as well. I would believe this upgrade will have no impact on warranty since it’s a stand alone modification.

Thanks for commenting! I made the control box myself but actually it is over engineered. A simple reverse polarity toggle switch will work just fine.

Man that is an awesome setup, I need that exact 3 in 1 setup. Only problem is I’m scraping gates to get in the backyard so the bagger bracket isn’t going to be a good fit for me, I only have a few bag yards but I would love for my mower to be a do all lawns mower. Who makes the magnetic chute blocker? I’m like you, ain’t about to drill on my new mower 😅

I believe Green Guard makes a no drill (magnetic) chute blocker for $300.

I’m picking up my brand new Hustler Surfer Pro 34” TODAY.🎉 I too will be running the bagging kit but want a chute blocker as well. I want this set up so badly, what would it cost to have you assemble a full kit and ship it to northern Cali? Pay for your time as well of course.

Awesome!!! I hope the Surfer Pro will meet or even exceed your expectations. From time to time I get requests to make chute blocker kits. I may consider it once the mowing season over. The electrical motor version is a bit over engineered but I may possibly make a video on a manual control version that DYIers could make themselves out of hardware from Home Depot or Lowes.

@@BillyGoatLawnService honestly, I love it BECAUSE of the over engineered look, fit and finish. Please seriously consider it, I’d pay good money to have that exact set up, keeps my warranty valid and let’s me run the bagging kit as well. Win-win.

This is a really nice set up, I have a question for you. Is there any flex in the cable you use to open and close the chute? Are you able to open it quarter of the way and it stays open or does it flop around ?

@Billy Goat Lawn Service I have the exact bagger you have with the same switch. I'm just not sure how you wired the switch to the window motor.

@@DaveLovesFishing My electrical version is a bit complicated but you can simply search for a 12v DC Motor momentary reversing polarity switch on Amazon. Some of the listings will even show you how to wire it up to a motor. At some point I may do a video of the electrical portion and also possibly a manual version without a motor.

I bought this mower yesterday, and today, in my first hour of use in my backyard, the coil for the drive belt snapped. Gotta have someone help me pull it back up onto the trailer and back to the dealer to fix. Pissed.

I may consider selling install kits in the future. I plan on making a manual version as well for those that don’t like to mess with wires.

If you're really trying to cut the time down on your videos, learn the golden rule ... "Stick To The Script!" If the video is a DIY chute blocker for the Surfer Pro - then edit out anything that doesn't refer to that video topic. The first 5 minutes of this video had nothing to do with the installation. Hope this helps!

I don’t sell as a kit but possibly in the future. I will be posting more videos this winter with more details of how I made the chute blocker.
