Sorry you had bad luck with the Hustler. Everyone I know that has them loves them including the old one I have . I live in Texas and cut mostly my yard and additional 4 acres . It’s mixed turf and pasture with no problems. I just bought BadBoy Maverick HD 54” with Honda and have about 6 hrs on it it has cut flawlessly. Only time will tell if I like it or it last as long as my Hustler. I kept the Hustler to cut my yard since it has a mulch kit on it . Good luck on you next mower but I like the Bad Boy .

Yeah even the dealer said it cut like shit when I returned it today. I still can't get myself to buy a badboy. I'd need to try a Maverick HD before I buy it and the nearest dealer is over an hour away so that throws a wrench into things. The badboy was $1k more than the hustler. The scag is $2k more than the hustler and has tried and true improvements. I never got to try mine, it leaked from 5 places. I'm fine with a used liberty z or a Cub Cadet at this point. Sick of wasting time and money.

@@morejelloplease Around here the Bad Boy Maverick HD which is comparable to the Hustler Fastrak SDX is around 1000 less depending or more depending on which motor you get . The regular Fastrak is about the same price as the Maverick HD . Scag is a lot higher than Hustler along with Ferris . Good luck

@@morejelloplease I’m in Fort Worth , northern Tarrant county . Have to step down to a Fastrak to stay in same money as the Maverick HD but you loose the 3400 transmissions, upgraded engine options with Donaldson air filters , no flat front tires , stripe kit and air suspension seat. Maybe a few other things . These were all 2023 models I was looking at . The dealer I bought the Bad Boy from also has a dealership in Wichita Falls and had a 2022 Maverick HD that he would discount some but it doesn’t have the dual tanks they added in 2023 also it was a Honda that I was wanting. Probably could have saved a few hundred going down to a Kawasaki or Kohler

The Bad Boy Maverick HD was 8451 before taxes and the Hustler Fastrak was 8100 , Hustler Fastrak SDX was 9200 if I remember right . Again I would have had to step down in the Hustler to stay in same price range . If you were in the Fort Worth area your more than welcome to try my mower .

I have a 60" Fastrak SDX and it cuts beautifully. I've cut 4" grass down to 2.5" in two passes and it looks immaculate. Keep the blades sharp and it's a breeze. I cut 4 acres every week and it has not missed a beat in 3 years. Sorry you had a bad run with the Hustler.

yeah it's hit or miss, i've been reading some hustler guys are having frame and cracking issues. i took the deck off and stood it on it's end and took a pic, it looked bent but the dealer said it was fine. if it was their machine, they would have just swapped it out or just gave me another machine, but neither the dealer nor hustler wanted to make it right. since i felt liek i was stuck with my tail between my legs, i posted a review about the dealer, only then, did they want to buy back the unit. I still lost lots of money and time with them. I still haven't found a zero turn that will cut 2 acres of texas landscape without issues. i'm continuing to borrow my friends patriot and the hero deck works fine. i have 3 sets of blades on hand, oem, high lift and G3 gators which i keep sharp with a milwaukee flap disc sander, or jet bench grinder, depending on how i feel that day :)

You are so right when you talk about the importance of the dealer. I bought a new Husqvarna lawn tractor 8 years ago. And Husqvarna was running a $100 rebate program if you bought the rear bagger kit. Well some how my rebate got lost in the sauce and Husqvarna told me to go pound sand! My dealer stepped up and cut me a check for $100. Always dot your i's and cross your t's when you buy something new or apply for a rebate!

no scag here, i've had bac luck with zero turns, 4 new scags, all had issues, mostly dealer related. the hustler was supposed to change my luck but it wouldn't cut for crap, the dealer bought it back as long as i deleted my negative review. shady operations, but i wasn't about to be stuck with a $9k paperweight.

If you have had that many problems with mowers you are the issue. I have two hustlers with over 4k hours on each and they make money everyday. Scags are excellent too. Not sure what your referring to that it doesn't cut? All the brands cut grass and all of them outsource transmission and engines. If you want to cut down trees....you need a chainsaw lmao

My Fastrak 48 has the Honda GSV 610 engine with less than 100 hours. It starves for fuel when it gets hot and quits running. The air cleaner can't be removed to service the carburetor because the air cleaner cover bolts screw into square nuts in the plastic fan cover and they just turn and turn preventing the bolts from coming out. I'll have to destroy the plastic fan cover just to clean a carburetor! What a piece of junk!

We've had Ferris and Bad Boy, loved them. Ferris is like a Cadillac, while the Bad Boy is tough as nails and cuts beautiful. My Cat powered Bad Boy is still at my dad's near Austin. Though I recently acquired a Country Clipper. Damn thing is tough as hell, cuts damn good, easy to work on, fast, and with the joystick control it's nice to have a free hand to vape, knock branches etc out of your way... I find us fighting to get to the CC first lol.

I bought a hustler FasTrak SD back in 2015.. The very first day I mowed with it the deck belt broke. The next year the back panel that covers the rear of the engine broke in two from vibration. The paint started peeling off in several spots. The bracket that holds the main drive belt idler broke. I dont mow but a acre around my house and have only put 220 hours on the machine.. My Dixon was 20 years old when I sold it and had no issues or trouble other than a deck belt once in awhile. Would I buy a huster again? probably not.. Two of my friends bought hustlers the same time I did and they have had nothing but break downs..

Sorry about your issues but glad to hear. Sometimes the specs on paper are too good to be true even when the price is attractive. I thought this was the end-all of mowers but quickly realized the lack of quality control and customer support. In the end it came down to the dealer giving me a refund if I removed my negative review, it is what it is, or in this case, it isn't what it isn't :)

I look at my hustler raptor 52 and it breaks. Its in my shop right now waiting for a starter. Had the deck fall off while mowing. All kinds of shit. All i do is throw parts at it think yay its fixed then the mower laughs at me and breaks again. Hate hustlers

I have a two year old Freedom Z that I bought new, and it has been a great mower. If I had it to do over again, I would have spent $1500 more and bought the Patriot for the FX engine, the suspension seat, folding rops, and the 3100 transaxles. The dealer had a brand new Patriot on the showroom floor when I bought a new set of blades this spring. I was tempted, but I need to keep what I’ve got. Do you have a Cub Cadet dealer in your area? If so, the Ultima ZTX mower are nice, and you get a lot for your money. The higher end Cub ProZ line is nice too. I would also give the Toro Zmaster 2000, and the TItan a look as well. The Titan is a step below a Patriot thought.

there's a dealer that i bought over $13k of equipment from including 2 new scags that had severe PDI issues, he is also the dealer for cub, toro, stihl, exmark, etc and i'll never step foot in that place again. I'm very familiar with the scag lineup. the FX engine is one of the best to me, but usually you have to jump up a few platforms to get it, and will cost several thousand more. the difference between the FR691 and FX691 is just a few hundred bucks apart. The suspension seat with the dial is king, and all orange twist knob seats are not the same, especially the crappy trac seats found on amazon and ebay, those are the 1st gen rejects. My motto is it doesnt matter what color or name badge it carries, if it aint broke....

Yes a great dealer is very important. I’ve bought from mine for over 23 years. He also carries Toro and Cub in addition to Scag. I’m only in there 2-3 times a year, but they always remember me by name. I hope you can find a mower that you like and gives you good service.

I have heard good things about exmark mowers. These people here in south Mississippi swear by them. I myself have the "dreaded" Husqvarna z554L. People on KZbin dont like them much but mine has been a pleasure for me to own. I think it comes down to the dealer and mine is awesome.

There is a guy on youtube that cuts with that same mower in Tennessee. I am probably opposite of the Husqvarna fanboy because I think they bought and ruined a few good companies. But I have to admit that mower cuts beautifully. Cuts so well I really regret not snagging it in the Redmax version a couple years back when it was offered with the separate pumps and wheel motors.

I find it absurd that so called trained technicians can't inflate tires properly or better yet, fire up an engine for the first time, because the TWO employees that prepare new equipment to go out the door didn't even know where the fuel shut off was on one of their best selling models. I watched them crank it over for 5 minutes from the doorway to the shop and had to walk in there and point to the big red knob on the fender as they couldn't hear me yelling to them over the obviously loud music playing. You can't make this shit up! All this horrible dealership communication is outlined in my podcast video.

I think you should have gotten all your money back because something was wrong with that deck. If I were nearby I would have came by and figured it out for you being I have been through it a few times before. But majority resolution is better than no resolution! I don't know what options you have around but I would certainly be asking for a demo. Sometimes the MFG will arrange it if the dealer doesn't have one. Sometimes they are pretty available by this time of year. Most people have already bought and many dealers are looking to sell another unit or make you a good deal on the demo unit. I would try anything you can. I also really wouldn't rule out Scag if there is a better dealer. And I wouldn't rule out Badboy either really. Yeah I see some fit and finish issues with add-ons which is because they are kind of a gimicky company that realizes offering you add-ons sells some people, without them having taken the time to ensure the fit and finish of things like seats when you actually add a nicer seat to a unit that is designed originally around a different seat, etc... Anyways, point being, I see a lot of people buying these and using them heavily to cut udder crap around the ranch and farm, and I see people buying them to cut their estates. They seem to cut well in both crap and nice turf. Clearly you'll replace spindles or rebuild them more often if you keep it a long time because they have basic sealed ball bearing spindles, etc. But all in all OK for the money. I'd go down to the box store, pick up a Z5 deere and set it up properly myself before I'd go through all the crap you have been through.

I agree, hustler has the worst communication i've ever experienced, the dealer wasn't far behind. I should have gotten a full refund but no one wanted to prove that the deck was bad, and apparently the videos wern't enough. I had to leave a bad google review for the dealer before the ball got rolling. Hustler still and won't respond. for texas turf and weeds, the JD 7 iron deck is good, and the scag velocity seem to be where it's at. At this time i'll entertain another scag if I can get a dealer to play ball. Using my friends patriot with the Hero deck works very good and blew the new hustler out of the water as seen in my other video. I sent emails to 2 prior scag dealers, the ones that made things right when the shit hit the fan and they have also chose to ignore me. The watch the videos and read the comments and I guess they are scared to get involved. My zero turn outlook is simple. Sell me a mower that is correct from the get-go and you won't hear from me. I did get an email back from another dealer on a new scag liberty Z and he wouldn't budge from full retail. I dont know what he's smoking. There are several other dealers that still have leftover 2022 and 2021 scags and they will do about 10% off. That's silly if you ask me. I guess they are becoming a scag museum. The STB / Military discount is 15%-ish percent off MSRP, but i've seen dealers go below that for a cash sale. some are 20-22% off MSRP which is below scags fleet program. sometimes they run a promo and have prices you can't beat. for example, $4299 for a 48 liberty but it has an SR engine, which i will not entertain. I've seen one in person, and while it has an oil level sensor which is cool, the valve covers look like they are going to crack any second. lol. There arent' any manufacturers around here, and all of the dealers are playing hardball for some reason. No worries, the less people buy while the price is high will force things to be moved and the price will eventually drop. I can always zero-scape my yard and scrap the idea of going into business. I was going to mow commercially with the fastrak but that was a huge fail, no thanks to hustler (black and decker).

The dealer said everything was fine, but it turns out the deck was actually warped a little bit. I had four brand new scags and they all failed. The hustler was an alternative to scag and it failed as well. I still can't find a decent mower manufacturer or dealer, so i'm borrowing my friends zero.

@Buldgr it's all about the cut at this point, if it can't cut slightly over grown grass with mixed in weeds then it's out. Hustler was up there with scag velocity and JD 7iron decks for cut quality but that went out the window with my fastrak. I still think it's defective and should have received a full refund. Time will tell.

That's your raptor. My hustler had serious issues and the dealer bought it back. I do show my face but you'll have to watch more videos to find it :)
