OK, I don't know how they do it, but this music sounds the way it feels to ride a horse, especially a long distance on an open plain. I say this having done this. When I was a kid, we lived in the high plains of the United States, in the part of Oklahoma that was once called the Cimmaron Strip. There isn't much out there except an endless plain of grass and the sky so huge and blue overhead that it seems like everything. When it was just me and the horse, I'd almost believe that I could ride forever, and that powerful animal loping along underneath me made me feel more connected to the earth and to all living things than I can ever possibly explain. Then I grew up and moved to the city. Nothing has been the same since.

This music speaks to my ancestral soul. As an Apache, I only found out recently that there is linguistic evidence to show that the Athabaskan peoples of the Americas share much with the Ket people, a tuvan group. No wonder this music sounds so familiar to my soul, the sound of the ancestors to my ancestors.

I'm Western European, my ancestors have been here where I live for at least a thousand years so my situation is totally different from yours, but I have been to the USA and Canada, and heard and saw peoples of the First Nations sing and dance in their traditional way, and when I heard these four men sing and play it struck me how many similarities there are. It sounds so old and so connected to their land and their history.

I found this video over a year ago at a time when my life was going through a major transition. I was going to be a father, and at the time, I had no idea what to expect.. I can remember the first time I heard Odugen Taiga. This whole set was transformative, but that song in particular has stuck with me. To me, it conveyed a sense of place in the universe.. being rooted in a tradition.. existing in harmony with nature, and I thought to myself, "This is the world I want to share with my son."

Makes me sense the horses and the horsemen on the far stretching grasslands of Mongolia and the rocky cold hills around, where the Huns know the earth and know the philosophy that only it's rooted culture can bring to it. It's so beautiful this deeply earthy folk music.

It's amazing the direct and explicit link there is between folk music and the culture they come from. Mongols relied on horses for most of their daily activities, and you can see how that translates as a recurrent topic in the songs hereby. Folk music is amazing, and it is a must for anyone that wants to understand the worldviews from ancient cultures. I loved this group, and this performance was more than amazing.

Tuvan music contains more about reindeers and the taiga than horses because they are traditionally taiga nomads not steppe nomads like Mongols but yes your point holds true. One of my favorite Tuvan song is called The Reindeer Herder's Song by Alash Ensemble you should check it out.

I heard their song 'Ougen Tiaga' live over 15 years ago in a small theater in Montana, it brought tears to my eyes then and it still brings tears to my eyes today. The beautiful thing about folk music from nomadic people is that it often revolves around nature or livestock or just how to survive in a natural life. Even if we don't speak the same language as the lyrics being sung, the tones of the music instruments speak to us subconsciously and lets us experience relatable feelings. I have goosebumps from the horseriding song, feeling like I am going along with them on a ride in the colds of the mountain steppes.

One of the most fantastic experiences i ever had listening to this concert. Their melodies sound so similar to Icelandic, Irsish and North American. The second song is so Irish! Thsnk a lot for sharing this video. They don't play or sing, they creates The Wave, The Flow of sounds, and it is so human, so primal, so natural. They sing the nature itself!
