Mostly you learn from experience. Lately it is best to go AD most games. Maybe AD if you can auto attack the enemy champions a lot and AP if you cant

if they r too squishy/not that much cc/low mobility then go ap, buy mejai and make sure the enemy team have no fun if not then go ad (bork, sunderer, wit,...) and do the E cancel animation thing and hope u will good for the rest of the game (kat matchups kinda suck honestly)

I was testing builds today on practice. AD and AP are doing the same dmg. AD slightly better in early, AP is slightly better in late. The diffrence lays elsewhere. Katarina base kit (QWE) deals way more dmg with AP, her R does way more in AD (autos are better in AD ofc). Edit: Rn it comes down not to stats but by preference and playstyle

yes but the attack speed only increases the R ratio of AD, not AP. buying nash for attack speed will increase AD damage on ult but not AP damage.

If I remember correctly it’s because wits end procs it’s magic damage kat ult and gives you Mr+attack speed making the ap gain for nashors not worth anymore with the bruiser meta.
