HVAC Condensate Pump Explained

So one observation having one of these pumps hooked up to my furnace with central AC. When the pump shuts off, a small amount of water flows back into the pump. The tub of the pump will slowly gum up with mold. You need to clean these pumps out pretty regularly to keep them clean, otherwise they fail and will overflow. Another tip: if you also run a dehimidifier in the summer, and you have the ability to hook up a hose to the humidifier for continuous draining, you can run the hose from the dehumidifier into this pump, eliminating the need to remove the heavy bucket of water from the back of the humidifier (often daily in the summer) and carrying it to where you need to pour it out. Let the condensate pump do the work for you. Just make sure every spring that your condensate pump is still working and that it is clean.

So do you connect these wires together or do those two blue wires just dangle there separate it?

I'm a little confused... What do you hook the blue wires too for proper operation?

You put the blue wire inline with R which is the 24V power to the thermostat. (One end to the thermostat and the other wire to the air handler) When the pump is empty the switch is closed if the pump breaks it will fill up and the high water level will open the switch. This causes the thermostat to turn off and will turn the unit off so that it doesn't overfill. It also helps the homeowner know that something is wrong with their system.

Question: Is it dangerous or no for drops of water/condensation to fall onto the pump from above? I noticed there's condensation on the copper pipe coming from the unit indoors, it drips onto the pump.

The part where the plastic hose goes on the pump there is an orange part that goes on the spring how does it work

All the ones I have used have been similar. Perhaps the brand with the thickest wall would be best? But, it may also be heavier and kink…
