I'm a big fluke fan but if you are going to use this as a visual tool for the home owner the soupçon wins hands down! That little red light next to bad gets their attention every time.

hey paltech, he who dies with the most tools wins lol ,,i picked it up on ebay used i think it was 300 .00 for the fluke 1520 it is pretty big, quite the meter thanks for watching @ commenting

Great great video! You actually go through it and say what to look for when the readings come up on the fluke. 50 and lower and the motor is useless! Good job and keep the videos coming!

Great job Steven The fluke is badass . I Have megger 410 i love it They're both very good Top-of-the-line. As for the supco it's good enough for testing motors The fluke and the megger Can be used for many other things Because they are more precise Love the video man great job

You have some nice tools Steve! The "G" on the Fluke means gigohm which is 1000 megohms. Anything reading up around or over the "G" is really really good.

Great video Steven. Haters will always hate, that's what they do. The Supco m500 is the next tool on the never ending tool list. lol It works and its small.
@moonlitdreamsrc7 жыл бұрын
from my experience testing motors is to be carried out several times at ambient and motor operating temperatures (@1.5 times rated voltage). unfortunately dc current testing doesn't cover m'amp earth leakage which is the culprit for rcds tripping 😒 sometimes insulation testers need repeat tests over a period of time to come to a total conclusion of the motors health 🤔 as a service engineer attending breakdown calls its not possible and sometimes find yourself being forced to make a judgement call which isnt always the right one ☹

the 'g' on the scale doesnt mean ground it is giga ohms (1000 000 000ohms)
@TheWpruden5 жыл бұрын
G is for giga ohms, no pun intended. Great video and I just suscribed. The supco is nice and quick but I know techs like myself want to see the actual numbers. Again great video thanks for posting!!!

I do like the idea of that little Supro, small, light and easy to carry. One of the things I wish though would be a red light for a condition of a short or extremely low Meg ohms, or ground, rather than 20 megs or ground. While I am not an a.c. Guy, I am an electrician, and in the navy, when we megged motors, this is the standard we used: The rule may be stated: Insulation resistance should be approximately one megohm for each 1,000 volts of operating voltage, with a minimum value of one megohm. For example, a motor rated at 2,400 volts should have a minimum insulation resistance of 2.4 megohms. So it puzzles me that if a motor read 15 meg ohms to ground, some of these guys would be telling customers that the compressor or motor was bad? I get that in a perfect world you want infinity, but what I am saying is in the service, if a motor read a couple of megs, you would run with it. If it was very high before, and it suddenly dropped, or gradually dropped to only a few megs, it warranted watching it, but would A.C. Guys condemn a motor or compressor if it read 10 megs? I am asking because there is that big difference in standards, and I am trying to understand why. Thanks! Love your videos!🙂

When you said anything above G is good when you tested the power venter, it contradicts with the previous bad motors testing. They also were above G. I don't think the G is for ground. I think it's for GegaOhm.
