My Trane is 25 years old, still going strong. All original parts except every 5 years I changed out the capacitors, every 10 years changed out the contactor and cleaned the air handler every year. I paid $3,400 for this 2.5 viable speed hvac unit. 👍 to Trane.

My folks had a new Trane system installed on their home back in 1989. New eelectric Airhandiler and the XE-1000 heat pump. It replaced a GE system from 1975. The Trane is still there today my folks no longer own the home! Yeah you can stop a trane just as easy as anything else! I personally thought these units were junk but I still like the GE versions best their cabinets weren't as flimsy and didn't rattle like the later junk boxes did!! Lol lol great video Steven!

Great job Steven, they heat up bad in those wires trying to start and run . I just put a Trane back online Friday with a blown run cap. Tried to video it, but the homeowner was right over my shoulder. Take care, Brett

Great job Steven! The fuse panel looked old! We used to have a lot of rewireable fuses here, trouble was people would put the wrong size wire in them! Mostly is breakers now.

I still have an XE900 running after 30 years! I wanted to install a 5-2-1 quick start to help it along. When I removed the cover, I found it has 3 capacitors, so I am trying to figure out which if any are the start up one. Another video posted stated they were all running capacitors, so anybody know if it can be done?

I have this same unit. I Purchased My Dads house when he retired. He had it put in new like a Billion years ago. Its worked awesome since the day they put it in. First start up this year I noticed it took forever to cool the house down (It never really did) Unit started to make a weird warbling noise so i shut it off .I had the company that installed it years ago come back in to check it out. Of course it wasn't doing it when they came by and that particular day it was 68 degs out. They just said "It seems to be working" and left.. Cut to a few days ago and I turned the unit on again to knock the heat down a bit and it started making noise again. Sounded like the bearing in the condenser fan so I took it off and checked it. It has bushings instead of bearings and they were dry. It has lube points so oiled them. After I turned the unit back on I noticed it sucks air in through the top of the unit from the fan and blows it out the sides of the unit. The Fan is unfortunately running in reverse. It is only a 3 wire motor non reversible. The wiring is correct as I took pics of everything before I took it out. Any idea what causing it to run in reverse? Bad Start capacitor? I assume that is what is causing the unit to not cool the house down.

Hey, your subcooling was 28 degrees. An indication that excess refrigerant is being stored in condensor. TXV is prime suspect. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not trying to be supertech. Love all yours, fritz and isrealhvac's vids.

Anthony Greenberg there are a lot of good brands get a Acoil that will fit on your furnace .i would stay away from york .because of the micro channel condensers,,, goodman ,ruud,icp products are all good unit and will not break the bank

+ducklandwikeno goodman is a division of daikin imho ac are like cars you either get a really awesome system last you forever or that crappy one that never stops having problems with our experience trane is what sucked for us we have 1 ford expedition no problems then we later got an f250 biggest pos ever got a duramax instead our grandparents have an 11 year old armstrong air its energy star rated for 2006 but compared to todays efficiency it sucks power good thing both ac and furnace not 1 problem i think its a 3 ton 13 seer and an 80,000 btu 80% furnace kicks our new tranes ass at reliablity

It's 90 percent the Install and Quality of an Install lil more than the Brand 63 yrs old here been doing since I was 17 all were good in the day.I still favor Trane lil over the rest but it's all about Market Share so they are All built Cheaper but it's all about the way they are Installed .Goodman and ICP most Parts are Reasonable Priced less than say Trane.

You can't stop a Trane? Really? Check to see whether the fan and blower motors have provision for oiling, i.e., oil cups. If not the motors WILL fail prematurely because the bearings will fail from lack of oil. Recently I had to pay almost $400 to have a condenser fan motor replaced because a bearing failed. The bearing would not have failed if there had been provision to oil the bearings. There is no excuse for making motors so that the bearings cannot be re-oiled without taking the motor apart.

@frankeggers4024
@frankeggers4024 8 жыл бұрын
Are you actually saying that bearing, including "permanently lubricated ones", will never fail if they are not lubricated? My experience indicates that unlubricated bearings WILL fail. I had a window fan that received heavy use. Once I noticed that it was slowing down, so I shut it off whereupon the blades stopped turning very quickly. The motor was stiff. I disassembled it, oiled the bearings, and it worked perfectly. By periodically dissembling and oiling the motor, I got 25 years of life out of it after which I sold it when I moved. Surely that is sufficient proof that failure to lubricate bearings WILL result in failure which can be prevented by periodic lubrication.
