I always got in the habit of checking a motor to see if it turns before installing it. I'm sure you will too now 😊

IKR, drag to have a new motor like that defective, especially if you don't find out until you installed it. It may be a good idea to check them prior to installation.

Just like those electric furnace breakers he had to change in that one video, that where suppose to be brand new. Not really decent quality at all when you have stuff like that happen.

We had a brand new furnace and ac unit installed and the ac wasn't staying on. The blower motor on the ac unit was getting hot and shutting down. Brand new, kept telling the installer something was wrong, thought I was crazy till he touched the motor 😂

I was part of a new install in the winter of 1980, went to turn it on and blower wasn't working and smoke coming out of the return!! Pulled the door off and the manufacturer had stuffed the thermostat and paperwork in the blower wheel !! We always knew to check from then on! But dang, why on earth would you stuff the blower full of parts then seal it up with screws and not tell anyone!!

i had a brand new trane motor with a bad ball bearing on it brand new out of the box, i had to go back the next day and replace the motor because it was making such a loud growling sound. the motor was made in mexico and bearing was a generic made in china, i bought two new bearings from grainger and pressed them on to keep it as a spare on the truck. I made a video about it earlier this year

Love the tenant talking about Georgia having a different kind of cool than Tampa. I think most of "us" living up the East coast and I'm in Canada, we were all having a good laugh. Where we live we describe it with a four letter word - Cold.

Lack of maintenance really hurts. So does a NIB motor that is seized up. Wow. BTW, I need to thank you. Your extensive use of zip-ties inspired me to add some to my own tools, and I used a couple of them this weekend to remount our dryer's temperature control knob. I'm not saying they did it (I didn't see it happen), but after a couple techs were here to fix another problem with the dryer, we discovered that knob loose, and when I took the panel off, the plastic ears to which it clips were missing, as though crunched out with a pair of pliers. Fortunately I was able to come up with a good solid fix with the zip ties, so thanks for the inspiration.

I was surprised to see the heat exchanger was good, it looked like stainless. That was the only thing making the job worth while, especially since you had everything. It sucks to get a brand new motor that is defective, I hope they make it good so you can replenish your stock. I think that geckos are technically still lizards. I wonder what it was that fried them. I had a very expensive 2 cylinder freezer compressor shorted out from a green lizard. That thing kept my walk in freezer - 40*. It would freeze a 5 gallon bucket of water in an hour. It was great for processing seafood. Anyhow, that looked like a fun job, with the exception of doing the blower twice. Nice job, thanks for sharing.

Great video! I’m a first year tech. Out of curiosity why didn’t you clean the burners,flame sensor & spark igniter while you were in there. Especially with how old the system was. Genuine question, not trying to be a smartass.

Bad out of the box, that’s always annoying……Great work as always…. See you work on a lot of Raheem units, would be interested in your opinion on most reliable brands of units, for both heat pump & traditional separate condenser and evaporator (Carl heat / cool) stand alone units, etc / cheers from the west coast / CA

I know it's not funny to be cold. And you guys get chilly at 50° understandable 40° lower than normal temperature for the summer. So something around 30° must be absolutely no fun. I do believe it's easier to stay warm than it is to stay cool. Cuz in the summertime your neighbors will not put up with you mowing the grass in your underwear. At least mine doesn't. 😂

Really a perfect video of an entire job. I am not a pro, so I don’t have a lot of tools, and always reinstall screws (sheet metal, wood, machine) with a manual screw driver and turn the screw counterclockwise until I can feel or hear it drop into the existing thread path. That keeps the screw from cutting the old hole larger or cross threading. That’s important for someone like me who always seems to have to do the job over at least two times before I get something back together and working :) For the pros, not so much. Another thing: I wonder how well the triggers on those electric drills and drivers last with the practice of short burst running? (Thinking of the carpenters on the “This Old House” show.)
@evilswissy
@evilswissy Жыл бұрын
they are made for short burst. I've seen many units with missing self tapping or drill point screws because they were stripped from a tech, wide open, tightening them, including myself

Odd how I see these package units being used in Georgia. Different from here in Alabama. I am use it being split with the Air handler inside and the heat pump Condenser outside. Is it space or cheaper to have a all in one package unit? Trying to understand the reason for using it.
