Those blue lawn chairs sure bring back a lot of memories. Way back before we had AC, we would sit under the pecan trees in those chairs. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a valve that you could just disconnect to remove those evaporator coils. I have one that is dirty and a holy terror to get to as it is in the attic and no walkway.

Yes home owners tend to, but I’ve seen a lot of renters that have just thrown the filters out and not even have one. And the coils are nasty!

I think HVAC companies run to the air filter , then cry it’s the problem. It’s the first place they run to. Instead of troubleshooting the problem. It’s just an air filter folks. 😂
@jerrylockhart3069 Жыл бұрын
@@jcsopinion3899 that’s the first place you have to look is the filter, the coils and the thermostat because if you don’t look at that you’re not going to fix the problem or the real problem in most cases. It doesn’t make sense to go to the condenser and do anything until you know, the thermostat is calling it has airflow and the drain is not backed up .🥵🥵🥵😎👍🥳

I've never seen anyone cut out a coil just to clean it. Not too many people would be that thorough. That reminded me of my neighbor across the street from my last home. He was an Air Force Vietnam War veteran. He never knew that the central unit in his house had a filter. When he took it out, it had close to a quarter inch of dirt on it. Amazingly, it was still heating & cooling the house. The FBI interviewed me when his son needed a secret clearance for his job in the Air Force. I told them, "If you can't trust him, I don't know who you are going to find."

@@deweydodo6691 yeah I cleaned a fridge a few years ago that the dryer was leaking lint , omg took me about three hours to get all of the lint out of the coils under that fridge. I had lint All over that kitchen. These newer gas water heaters will plug up in a heartbeat, because they have a small micron filter that gets plugged really easy!

You are right in that case. If it would have had an emergency pan, he could have used the chemical and sprayed it out inside, but man that thing was completely clogged. Another case of not changing filters on a regular basis.

Great job Curtis on cleaning that system. 👍 12 months ago my AC guys recommended cleaning the evaporator coil and blower motor and also replacing the contactor. It would’ve been about $800 for everything. I declined all recommendations because everything looked good. The evaporator coil should never need cleaning as long as it’s sealed and you’re changing the air filter when you should and it’s a good quality air filter like a Merv 8. That system definitely needed cleaning.

Pulling the evaporator to clean it, I guess that was the only way to get that filthy thing cleaned right. Those connectors are cool, but I miss that nice brazing. I said a cuss word for you when you kinked that tube. A heck of a job, that thing should run and cool like brand new. Nice work

Time saver for the technician and also saves the customer money by using the press connectors. Plumbers use them instead of freezing the lines in order to solder. I was skeptical at first, but not now.

@7halofreak Жыл бұрын
Vacuuming a coil wouldn't do much as dirt and dust get lodged inside the fins, it would actually make it more compacted inside. They make evap coil cleaner that we use and a brush. Seems to work best if they don't want a full coil pulled out and cleaned
