That would only take probably 20 pouches of cleaner, given how efficient it is. And given how much PM work is gonna need to be done after the lockdowns finish up, there's gonna be a load of use for that stuff. Wish I had a foam gun for cleaning my car. Standing out in 90* weather cleaning a shiny red car with a bucket of water isn't exactly fun.

The filters are blocked causing the fans to pull water from the condensate trays and down the ductwork, because they are under negative pressure and the "p" traps on the condensate lines aren't tall enough to overcome the negative pressure of the fans and blocked filters on the suction side in the fan plenum. This is notable when the evaporator fan is turn off and there is a sudden rush of condensate/water from the evaporator fan coil deck/unit, through the "p" trap to the drain.

we spent days trying to find a water leak, they were convinced it was coming from the ice machines, then the roof. cut holes everywhere, couldn't find anything. turns it out was coming from a leaking glass washer on the other side of the building and the water was running through the pipe chase

I do not work in this industry at all but your videos are oddly satisfying to watch. Interesting topics and nicely presented. Great to see someone who knows the trade so well, can teach it and customer satisfaction is key and not quick money. I look at the CRAC units in our data center with a lot more interest now (Copeland compressors, would not have a clue without your videos) but still wonder why they turn on and off every few seconds... Keep up the good work, on-site as well as for your viewers!

At this point I'm thinking I could probably get myself a hose, a sprayer and some sweet Viper product and fix 80% of the AC problems out there. Considering the callbacks I have to do at my facilities, that's a pretty good hit rate.

Ran across a system with kind of the same symptoms. Older r22 unit has been serviced by multiple companies....I've come to the realization that folks will dump 422,407,mo99,bluon,410 or whatever into these things and not think twice. Basically recovered and recharged with 22 and worked perfectly🙌 I am convinced it was just non cons and mixed refrigerant. Love the videos and judging from the comments looks like you are getting a very diverse and growing audience

Yer for some reason I can’t stop watching your videos. They’re fascinating! Two questions: 1. Have you ever considered a Go Pro or similar type camera? You lowered you smart phone into the until in this video and even I got scared if it slipped out of your hands. 2. I’m not sure how to ask this the right way, but do you make videos for liability reasons or just for KZbin? I guess what I’m asking is whether there is a benefit to documenting your work to prevent future questions. Keep up the great work!!

When you foam a coil, if you start at the bottom, and work your way up, it's easier to be sure that you get all of it foamed. Also, when you practice this, the dirt gets wet, it flows downhill where there is also more soap.

Great video Chris. I picked up the Field piece probes a few weeks ago. They are an awesome tool, and give you a ton of information with measure quick. However air flow measurements seem to correlate with temperatures drop. Having supply air probe to close to evaporator would make air flow look lower. Air flow is real hard to pin down without air flow tables, or tools designed just to measure flow. Also I don’t have the manometers so I guess that would also help predict air flow. Thanks for all the videos and education.

I have possible 2 things ...1. The High side pressure went up I think? when you opened the economizer. I'm not 100% sure but think so. I have 2 possible suggestions on the high pressure is 1. Could be a damper closed on the return duct dn stairs but if that happened starving the return the evap coil would be frozen or frosted. 2. A dryer clogged. I still can't get The Refrigeration Technology products at supply houses local even UR said they don't have enough demand for the product. So like you said I'll try TTT and get the correct product. And always will use BIG PICTURE to promote your channel ALWAYS will have my support. Great video on the Viper products and very clear on not to use too much. Have a great week and please be safe.

Good vid. How do you know the unit Has R-22 in it ? Could have R-422D in it. Thier might be nothing wrong with the unit at all. Just a Different refrigerant used. That’s what u have to be careful with using Apps like MeasureQuick. If u are Totally Relying on them to diagnose - problems arise. Wrong data in app , wrong button pushed / refrigerant selection than what the unit actually has in it. Garbage in / Garbage out. How I Look at units is - 1) Will the Compressor Survive at Current operating conditions ? If Not - Yea, it’s Got to be fixed. 2) if Yes - How far off is it vs Dollars to Make it 100% correct. Is it worth it for the Customer ?

With the filters being so clogged. Could it be lowering internal pressures that prevent the water from gravity draining and pull water from the trap with airflow being pulled in thru the drain. That is a really scary thought if the condensate drain is on into a sewer vent pipe instead of a storm water roof drain..

You can check a recovered tank against a PT chart and see if it is something other than 22. For Kameron: many viewers could use a recommendation for coil cleaner and the application gun. The extra info won't hurt you, so chill.

I am going to ask a question that clearly shows I am not in the HVAC field. Why pipe the condensate drains through the roof and into the building? Would it not be simpler to just let the it drain onto the roof surface. Seems like there would be less of chance of a clog without a long run of pipe.
@44R0Ndin
@44R0Ndin 4 жыл бұрын
That's part of the building code in that state, over here in NY it's just fine to let it drain right onto the roof AFAIK. Makes no difference, the roof has drains anyways so if the AC is pulling that much water out of the air it will just find it's way to a roof drain anyways. I think it might have something to do with not letting the birds have a water source, but I'm not 100% on that. You'd have to ask Chris, he'd probably know why it's code.

We have decent knowledgeable techs who get tunnel vision and are convinced the first thing they found is the only problem leading to the failure. Or they recently took a class on TXVs and now everything they work on must have a malfunctioning or improperly working TXV. Worse yet they overlook something as obvious as fan motor running backwards.

We used to only use Camfil Farr,but everyone one wants to save 30 cents per filter so we went with another brand,and the results are water getting dragged from the pans ,more frequent changes and so on.Now they want us to up the Merv rating to 11 on double pass racks,so I can imagine this will be a total shit show, but that's above my pay grade,they will see when we start buying belts and fan motors by the pallet.

I have similar traits far as wanting everything to operate as it should but to expect my customer to pay for everything to make everything like new. I let my customers know what is going on above and beyond their initial concern. I just can’t imagine telling my customer that I am running into overtime because I spent a majority of my time with other unrelated items (ex. Water leak from vents). You probably could have addressed their water leak concern in under an hour with the understanding that their system does need attention.

Lots of "Chingus" in this video, I'll have to get stocked up. What sort of units do I purchase "Chingus" 🤔 2 turns of the chingus is equal to 4 × the area of 7 chingus when dry..........Chingus = 😊

Does the strike back cleaner have a smell? A lot of my customers are sensitive to scented cleaners.
@HVACRVIDEOS
@HVACRVIDEOS 4 жыл бұрын
Yes its either a lemon scent and or spearmint scent. Its not very strong at all but I'd be careful around sensitive customers. You might want to give refeigeration technologies a call and talk to them about the scent im sure they will be able to help you better than I, they are really coll people over there

The belts on these units are overloaded, for that electric motor, there should be 2 or 3 belts, quality belts should last 4-5 years without tightening.
@Bin216
@Bin216 4 жыл бұрын
drajo123 That is how the units are from the manufacturer. You would have to retrofit non-OEM parts to change that, which I doubt the owners want to do on new units, and once they are out of warranty, they probably don’t want to spend much on them, even if it would save money in the longer term.

@@muradabad1 Seriously, have you not heard him talk about the issues related to throwing random compressors, motors, etc. into units? Replace it with the same OEM compressor or you're going to have to figure it out yourself. No smart person is going to create problems for themselves giving a blind recommendation on an expensive and critical part of your system without actually seeing it in person and understanding all of the environmental and buildings variables.
