Condemning boards is tough, I always try to be sure because it can be a stupid expensive misdiagnosis.

Being new to the industry I can say that those units look bada$$. Hope to work on that type someday.

Have you had to work on any of the Trane cutler hammer solid state starters?

Yes, what's your thoughts on them?

@@HVACTIME i had to condemn one that was 20 years old recently. Seems like a good design. Only complaint is Trane no longer supports parts so if they die you have to replace the whole starter. I believe cabinet and all.

Great content! Incompetent service company or cheap building owner that let this get so bad?

@@HVACTIME So basically did you insert a wire from one end to the start input and the other end to the contact coil ?
@HVACTIME

Ah yes as a test only. Once i proved the starter worked I removed the jumper and figured out the rest.

@@HVACTIME So i assumed you placed a jumper on the start stop contact ? I'm having quite a similar issue would try to eliminate and verify each component properly first step by step before condeming the board .

Something I don't get about this industry. You said this is dragging out for months, and the customer didn't approve replacing the third SCR. Do they not need these chillers up? Sounds like lots of follow up visits for parts that cost less than the truck roll to get them there.

Ya, job's like this one turn into complicated situations that end up being a slow play out until everything comes together.
