Pro tip: Always have the Relative black box up when racing. That way you can tell who you're racing and who you're not. This is a lot more important than it appears.
@Otakahunt4 жыл бұрын
yess... you NEED relative box open at all times. The relative helps with seeing how close people are to you on track, be it either 10 seconds away, 3.0 seconds or 0.1 seconds (basically next to you at that point). Also helps with identifying slow or crashed cars infront which may surprise you when you come around a corner at high speeds. The spotter isnt always on point and neither are the yellow flags.

I really enjoyed that! I would prefer a mix of live reactions and commentary. This looks like it takes a lot of focus so I am not sure how live reactions would go. Probably no chat reading for one. EDIT: I watched some of your live stream and the live reaction stuff worked pretty well when you had your friends talking to you.

Brophy! Its about time! I'm a 12 year veteran of iRacing, and about a 5 year youtube subscriber of yours. I can't describe how happy this series will make me! Some helpful tips: 1. You are given a 1x penalty for getting 2 tires off of the racing surface at the same time, not 1 tire. Contact penalties will range from 0x for light contact, to 4x for semi light to hard contact depending on how the computer is feeling on any given day. Penalties are given to both parties regardless of fault. 2. Explore your Function keys (F1 to F12) These keys will change your black box and give helpful information during the race, such as lap times, standings, and later on, adjustments that can be made both in pit land and in the car. 3. You may find commentating during a high stress race much harder than you anticipate. I think we would all like to see you do your best, but being in the "moment" with you has its rewards too. Do what works for you and the viewers will adjust. 4. Reach out to the community on the forums if you want a custom paint scheme. There are quite a few of us who would love to work for you.

I ended up here looking for this kind of content because I just did my very first race this evening. Qualified 6th. Wiped out on the first corner. Then went from 12th to finish 4th basically by driving clean and not crashing. Quite nerve racking but that I think is one of the challenges of online racing, to keep calm and collected :)

Another option would be to do what Matt Malone does with his iRacing KZbin videos: Plays the full race, unedited with no post-production commentary added. But he does a live reaction after the race of any incidents or moments (even ones he's not involved in) via the iRacing replay system. The only things he adds in in post are split-screens with other angles. But that's only occasional, if it adds to the story on the race.

Experienced iRacing drivers always say to focus on being as clean as possible over worrying about positions what so ever until you get out of rookies, lest you become stuck in rookie hell. As we can see from this video, bad driving from other drivers bumping/ramming you will impact your safety rating too.

Hey Broughy, that's how I imagine the best format for these videos: The biggest part of the race footage should be from the replay, with only the TV cameras and onboard cameras, but no views from first person. You then commentate over what's happening. Sort of TV style. Especially the Gyro cam and wheel cams are excellent. Then, when there are tense moments, or for some replays, you cut to the live recorded first person view, along with your face in it and let past you do the talking. Don't forget to include a cool super slow mo shot of you flying over a curb anywhere. While nothing interesting is happening maybe you could host a little fake interview with Nos, e.g. when somebody crashes out prematurely I'm sure he could pretend to be that driver and deliver some exquisite content. Then do a picture-in-picture while you're chugging off laps in the background. And show the crashes of other drivers. Everybody loves crashes. I don't know if somebody else is doing that format, I've literally not watched any iRacing videos except Josh's livestreams.

0x hits in the top dont mean you lose SR. It just means contact was made, nothing else. 1x, 2x and 4x are the ones where you lose SR... maximum amount before DQ is 17x per race or something like that, if you get less than 50% and you finish the race then you will most likely gain SR instead of losing it despite having some incidents. But if you crash out (and usually get 4x as a result) and immediately quit, then you will always lose SR for sure. SR gains are based on clean driving so the more laps you complete without getting any incident points will give you rating. And that is directly stacked up against the incidents you did gain in a race and the end result is either positive or negative. ps. when you hit 1.00, 2.00, 3.00 or 4.00 SR in both ways (going down or going up) it will bump your SR with a bonus of 30 (or something similar) to keep you from easily losing and gaining licenses if you hover around those numbers since having too low SR will make you lose your license and access to certain cars. (D, C, B and A licenses after you get out of Rookie. Each have different series available, for example the F1 car requires A-license. License are very easy to gain and keep but its just a progression thing for new players and also punishment for people who continuously ram others... also A-class cars usually require higher skill than lower since they are faster. Not that license equals skill but atleast you have to drive a little bit before you are allowed to drive the fastest vehicles in official sessions)
