@@rhr5143 kinda yeah, it calculates your distance to the end via your remaining checkpoints (and does the same for everyone else). Then the leaderboard is just sorted by that distance.

Since you can have passengers on this server we absolutely need to do a RELAY RACE now. Make up teams, one person drives from airport to chilead, switch drivers, then from chilead to finish or something like that. Would be fun I think.

I had the same idea after watching this - PartnerFred or RelayFred sounds good too. Partners have to drive in the same car. Choose/assign partners at the beginning and the passenger swaps the seat with the driver at each checkpoint. Plus the passenger would have to get out anyway to get the checkpoint. might be hectic though. I think I would prefer to see it with not too many players. Actually Broughy pretty much did this race when he had Tony over. Can be with 2/4 player teams.. actually 4 might be even more interesting as they would have to get 4 seaters which tend to be slower so more problems with doing Chiliad and airport jump. Yeah I think this would be fun! Although downside of 4 player would be that each is mostly a passenger throughout the whole race lol

Well, it was pretty funny how Broughy appeared in the my car. I played from place with a bad internet connection, so there were some lag. At 05:16.8 (race time, 05:40 video time) you can see me and Fido stopping near the nice red car. From my perspective this car was empty! So at 05:23:2 I took the car (white dot dissappeared from the map), drived it a little bit and then car despawned (05.28:5 - white dot appeared again on the map). Then I got up, took the grey Vectre (empty once again!), drived it a little bit - and realized that it was a Taxifred from this point😀 Later I understood that because of lag I crashed into Vinible, Verdilith (sorry about that, guys) and some npc cars, which didn't happen on my screen, but did happened to them unfortunately (like this bonk at 7:06). "Double the lag - double the protection".

@@jarretrausch Everything was fine in the races during the stream before this Gfred and in this race prior to observatory. Usually I don't have such problems (tested on 8th Gear, PH or vanilla). This evening either my internet got worse towards the evening (less likely) or there were too much incoming data from the server because of the huge amount of players (more likely imo). But you are right: if I had problems - I would not participate. But it is too late to DNF when you are in the middle of the race and Broughy is sitting in your car telling (06:14): "You better drive this Gfred well!"😆

I was on the DERFG side too, I got pushed off the road coming down Chilliad and then died three more times trying to get down until I realized I would not need to save my parachute and got to the Palleto Highway... still managed to finish. This was fun, glad it will be a regular thing.

Suggestion: BuddyFred. On 8th gear. Everyone must have a buddy with them in their car or be a buddy in a car. At every checkpoint, you must swap driver (to also work around passengers not getting checkpoints)

If you cant collect checkpoints as a passenger you could do gfred derfg teams,both have to be in the same car but you have to decide who drives the gfred first and then at the end of the gfred ye swap and your teammate drives the derfg back?

So if 8th Gear server allows passengers in cars during races, there could be a team race - a Teamfred if you will. Team of 4 players, winner is the team that gets all its members finished first. This could allow different tactics. A team members could get their own cars and go one by one, or they could get a 4-seater and do the race together. Speed with risk of a team member dying vs slower speed but everybody getting checkpoints together.

The fact you can have passengers opens up new opportunities! Tag team racing! Every checkpoint the driver and passenger swap, thus both getting the checkpoint. Teams can be randomly selected or just whoever you get in the car with! Cannonball Rallies! Passenger tells the driver where/what direction to go!

You'd think, by now, people would know the rules and abide by them. Maybe set new rules where people who cheat are suspended from the next 3 Gfreds. Also, I wonder if there's a way to create a modded version of Gfred where you are reliant on a driver to pick you up. Not sure how that would work out, but that would be really interesting.
