During the stream, someone asked me how I got passed the train cars. When I came down chiliad and went into the tunnel, the big bridge was not blocked for me but the 2 smaller bridges were. I was able to get passed those by going around on the side. As far as losing the win goes, I parachuted into the finishing checkpoint like you normally would in a gfred. But due to the way 8th gear have changed the finishing checkpoint to be flat instead of round, it required you to go into the building to get it. I hit the building and died. I would have won at about 19:45 if it wasn't for that mishap. However, it was a fun race and I can't wait for the next one!!

GFRED SUMMARY SERIES Gfred #216: 8Gfred - Magical Train of Surprises . . . . SPOILER ALERT So after some kind of rally around the Grapeseed area, it’s time to try out the new addition of Gfred on the 8th Gear Server. Broughy returned to see some shenanigans including a Dump on top of his Buffalo. Broughy accidentally scrolled too far to the Gfred Mode and he managed to not let anyone seen it until the proper reveal. And even then, Broughy’s surprised that Gfred exist here, and he didn’t think that there’s one more. Broughy asked if Parachute exist here. Phukkitt said “We were too busy talking shit in chat rather than actually watching the stream” TDD donated “A Bonus GFred? It must be my birthday, oh wait, it's yours.” Jam said that it’s a regular traffic with no Single Player spawns, and it seems that everyone started on foot this time. As TDD said, Top 17 is always possible. Then at the start, he’s surprised that there’s a checkpoint on the starting line so he has to go back and fetch it, and some made the same mistake as well. Broughy decided to restart the race because it felt unfair. Noxie said “TBF never had this many people I thought it might be wide enough” Rassaru subscribed “That must have been the shortest Gfred in history.” And now we get to the start for the second time. While Deeest is stuck connecting. Jam actually told Broughy about the Gfred feature in secret discussion, as well as the live tracking for everyone’s distances, in meters. No more waiting until each checkpoint to get updated. He informed people who didn’t know that 8th Gear is a FiveM server like PH. Vinible said “Nobody on YT is listening” because everyone skips the run. But even though Off-Season is already on, this Gfred can be considered as a special bonus. Jam said “Noxis knocked it out of the park with this one” Broughy wondering if PS3 version had the Live updates, before it’s changed to every checkpoint, but he could be wrong despite Rockstar clearly going backwards with this. Then Tharnite run him over in a Vigero, but Broughy’s okay and get a bit lucky with a Ruiner. Fortunately, Guille Bu is kicked from his attempt to steal Broughy’s car. Now he’s about 300 meter behind Whitey in 3rd. Jam said that the distance between each person is measured on how close they are to the checkpoint, but it’s more accurate on the straights nonetheless. But while the traffic is regular, the cars themselves is already balanced for 8th Gear. And he thinks what Paddy has is The Quicker Penumbra. Noxie cleared Broughy’s mistake of thinking it’s the distance between each player to actually, “It’s not distance between players, its difference between players’ distance to next cp” Meanwhile, Broughy took an Exemplar which is hopefully quicker. And yes, 8th Gear is now the 5th platform where you can have Gfred, while he immediately took a chance for a Feltzer not long after the highway. Also, no there was no Gfred back in the Old Gen. But then he spotted Karolingus in a 9F, and he rammed into a Sultan on the highway. But since this is a bonus race and he’s already in Off-Season Mode, Broughy wouldn’t hope to do well. Jan said “9F on 8G on 5M” All he could do is to struggle his way through, including around a swerving Youga. Raymo said “Broughy already in his holiday shorts” He spotted Verdilith who seemed to be in Massacro. And as he exits the Airport, Paddy’s overtake may show that the Penumbra is really quick. However, Paddy crashed into a Beejay, which led Broughy to swerved right into Qeef Teef and Deeest’s 9Fs. Weirdly, Tharnite and Verdilith is referred to as in unknown cars. The Feltzer seems trashed already, but a wild Jackal crossing only confirmed it. For a Bonus Gfred, this is not going well. Noxie said “Bob is supposed to add all the cars to the database but he’s lazy so they’re unknown for now” Now he has to find something at Senora Road, and he found a 9F while the leader’s already gone at this point. 2.5KM ahead of Broughy… but he spotted a Jester though he keeps the 9F. To answer Yanbo, no, there will be no PantoFred and he wouldn’t take it up Chiliad. He swerved from another deadly Habanero at Harmony, and Guille catches up in his Massacro, but there’s a train up ahead. But of course, Broughy hit the train after the River Jump and roll over. He also did an epic failure in jumping across the small bridge and he gone upside down, which led him to be stuck between the walls. It’s his fault for being too eager to beat the train. He refused to respawn, so he goes back to the road below for another car. Now he excused that he’s fine because this is a bonus Gfred. All he can find is a Sadler with a Generator… and he saw yet another train crossing. Draconis said “At least you committed to your bad decision when you made it.” Worse, some of the cargos are lagging and glitching right on the small bridges. It forced him to get around the hard way, he’s stuck at the bottom, the generator’s disconnected, and the train is fixed now. Now Verdilith is already going back from Chiliad just as Broughy finally managed to get around the train and entering the tunnel. Oleg said “Try to get between these cars for a funny squeeze” And the train is confirmed to completely blocked the Raton Canyon Bridge. Jam said “8th Gear stopped the Train” This feels like DNF for everyone but Verdilith. While wondering how did Verdilith escaped, the train shows up again. And Broughy failed to try stowawaying the train. He has no choice but to run across the bridge all the way to the Sawmill. What is faster, going back all the way around OG Route or running to the summit of Chiliad. Broughy is kind of lucky to get Karolingus’ abandoned 9F however. It’s trashed but it’s better than running. But with everyone got stuck in the tunnel, Broughy may have a chance to go all the way into 2nd. Gfred in 8th Gear really given everyone something different. Now Broughy consider to go to GOH around everyone else who got stuck running across the Gfred, and he’s already accustomed to driving broken 9Fs as shown by his well-done Climb… until it lost balance at the top and had a rollover. Parachute from Chiliad is also possible, but he’s unsure if he got another one for the end. Still, all the 9Fs that he trashed may pay off for this moment. Maybe the best Gfred he’d done in Broken 9F. He hit various trees on the Descent, and indeed a lot of people are looking for cars at Stab City where cars are sparse. He continues going to GOH and he keeps this car because 9Fs is faster than most cars even in its broken state. However, Verdilith seems to encounter some kind of disaster, distracting him from spotting another 9F. Now Broughy decided to take the Quicker Penumbra, even for only the memes. Now he spotted Sleggt in 2nd at Zancudo. Verdilith screamed that he was robbed as Broughy is focusing on making up positions. Pancrojones said “I'd hate to see the "slower" Penumbra” which can be found at Vanilla. Though it seems that the 9F is still faster in the end. Maybe the Penumbra from earlier just spammed Kerb Boost. But you know something’s wrong when you’re doing DerfG Routes in Gfred. Then he spotted Whitey in a Colombian Marshall. Broughy trying to remember if he had done a Monster Truck-themed Gfred before. Verdilith said that he parachuted into the Checkpoint, but he smacked into the Broughy Hut and died. Sleggt also takes the win. Now he’s 713 meters from Top Ten by Zancudo. Previously Rockstar screwed Broughy’s DerfGfred Win by respawning, and now 8th Gear screwed Verdilith’s 8Gfred win by smacking into the hut. Jam said “Oh yeah. You need to enter the building” He saw some Floaty cars which seems to give Broughy a blessing for Hail Mary by nudging into the mountain. He rolled before able to parachute, but he could overtake people who are swimming. He’s already in run for 7th, and this is why Gfred Spirit exist. He landed in the early part of the island though and thus failed to overtake Paddy for 6th. After all the nonsense especially with the train, and how far back he is, 7th and Top Half is a great result. It’s a great entertainment for a Bonus Gfred. Karolingus said “You're welcome on the 9F!” and Broughy thanked him for it. His 9F and the decision to gown GOH changed his race. Noxie said “we'll uh... we'll try to figure out a fix for the train...” Cami said “A Gfred so weird you followed a Derfg route and swapped a 9F for a Penumbra” The leaderboard screen is now messed up so I can’t bother with the Meanwhile this time. Jam said “#Bug-Reports” He now lets 11th to 13th finishing before closing the race.

That was actually great! I think I watched almost all of the Gfreds and it has become a bit stale or... standardized. You still manage to make the show Broughy but that's really a testament to how good you are at that, more than the race being interesting in itself, really. This episode made me realize that, and I wish there would be more "random events" Gfreds like that, where people need to actually figure out what to do - instead of hotlapping the same race we all know by heart, by now. I'll still watch standard Gfreds, but... i wish you would think about a 2.0, as well!

My guess is that the OG route is great for getting _up_ Chiliad, because it's not too steep. That also makes it more tedious to get down, because it's slower to descend than just taking a steep way down.

One of the fastest cars that spawn in traffic plus it has awd so it gets up chilliad easily. the only car that is better is the infernus but it seems to be much rarer in traffic.

Best stock cars for GFRED imo are (1) Infernus - fastest spawning vehicle in vanilla, stable, AWD. (2) 9F - Third fastest vanilla spawn, AWD. (3) Feltzer - Second fastest vanilla spawn, stable, RWD. (4) Sultan - Top 10 fastest vanilla spawns, AWD. (5+) Carbonizzare, Rapid GT, Surano, Comet, Coquette, Dominator, probably a couple I'm forgetting. Top 3 are by far the best.

After the checkpoint on top of Mount Chiliad, I think that the best would have been to stay on the normal route until the entrance of the railway tunnel, to get to the road tunnel towards Alamo Sea, then to take a little path under the bridge just after the tunnel, the dirt road towards Stab City and back to the normal route.
