It is not quite easy to understand the different meanings of the word „I“ used by the different masters. When Ramana Maharshi says: „I am“, he means the all-encompassing consciousness behind the personal „I“. When Papaji says „The I“, he means the ego = the illusion of a person that must disappear, before one can see the truth. Therefore we need to make a good distinction to understand what the teachers mean using the same word. At the end of the day it‘s all about the one consciousness, no matter how we call it.

In my view. They are talking about the same. As you recognise yourself, your I is in the I AM THAT. As long as you identify yourself with you as a person the I is ego. But it’s the same I. As papaji shows the way he mentioned it this way. It’s the same I that sees.

yes but don't make "nothing" an object, don't strive for "it". It is not "it" but you. Who are you? The one thinking, wanting the "it" or "nothing" and even the thoughtless, formless, boundless universe. When "you" are "it" the object has ceased and also there is no one holding any object. At least for a second and that might be enough.
