I was traveling by train just the other day. I traveled one way by Vande Bharat express and returned by Jan Shatabdi (AC Chair Car). This triggered some thoughts in me. Jan Shatabdi AC Chair Car is almost exactly the same layout as Vande Bharat express and has very similar features - cushioned reclining reclining seats, table tray, foot rest, large windows, draw-down blinds etc. This train must have been top class when it was introduced though without any fanfare like Vande Bharat is introduced. But the coach has completely deteriorated. Stained cushions have not seen shampoo since they were put there. Total lack of maintenance is visible all over. Yet the charges remain high. Why this total neglect? How can one feel confident to travel on these trains? Why does Vande Bharat deserve all the attention? Vande Bharat tickets are very pricey too. In spite of all that, the train never exceeded 111 km/hour something which I notices in several of my travels on this train. You may have a fantastic coach. But you can't run it at high speeds on tracks that cannot handle speed. Only meant for "good feel" factor? I wonder.

Around 867 train derailment cases between 2002-2014, while we saw 426 such incidents between 2014-2023! I think Indian railways is large organization and it’s very difficult to manage! It must be divided n more centralized rather managed by centre. At the end of the day, railway minister can survey each track and not the PM.. Some scientific breakthroughs and automations are needed to avoid human errors..! That’s the need of the hour! But Sujit is super pessimistic it appears.. I see yogendda yadav’s mirror image 😂😂
