Do you think I can do the same thing with the CS7?

Hey man! Great video and i'm sue this is addressed somewhere in these other comments and/or threads but I had a quick question. I noticed on the one you built you did not use the reverse polarity cable that seems to be a big part of the equation. Did you buy special cables when creating your own "doubler" cable? The links look to be just regular (non-reversed) cables. Why did making your own with regular cables allow the elimination of the reverse polarity cable? Also...since this video is pretty old, is it all still working out without issues?

I power up my HX using a Truetone 1 spot CS12. I set it up according to the Truetone KZbin video, using the cables that come with it and the 9V 500ma output. After about an hour the HX simply turns off. I'm using a couple of two note and whammy dt pedals and they are fine. If I use the original HX power supply it stays on for hours. Will the double cable be necessary?

I believe they now make a special cable for the LIne 6 stuff

I just bought the HX Effects . Weird that the power adapter is only 2 prong not 3 for proper ground . Would make the unit a little quieter if they did.
@mdurg4 жыл бұрын
The stock adapter or the One Spot? The One Spot has a ground on the AC side. I don’t believe I’ve seen a ground on any DC adapters.

Hey man. Great video. Thx. Question. When using the CS6. Do you have enough power remaining to use power the wah, tuner and drop? Thx
@mdurg3 жыл бұрын
Yes. I don’t remember exact numbers but I think the CS6 puts out 1600 or 1700 ma. The helix draws around 1000-1100, Drop around 250, tuner and wah basically nothing. I’ve been thinking of dropping the drop since the HX poly capo is pretty good.

Perhaps silly question - how do you mount your Hx effects to that board??
@mdurg2 жыл бұрын
I’m using dual lock on this board. But Velcro would have been fine.

Are you running the Polytune and Drop from the CS6 too?
@mdurg3 жыл бұрын
No they are in front of it. Tuner -> Drop -> wah -> HX. I think the drop is only on there for a limited amount of time. I've been trying HX's new poly capo and it seems to work well.

How has the current doubler been working out for you?
@mdurg3 жыл бұрын
Works perfect and have been using it since I've made it. When I had just the single stock 1 spot cable and adapters coming from (1) 500ma port, the HX wouldn't turn on at the first click of the on/off switch. It would turn on the second click. This bugged me so I made the current doubler and it turns on first click every time. You can buy the voodoo labs version and you'll need an adapter to the 2.5mm pin, and some people make these custom on either Reverb or ebay. I kind of like to DIY so figured I'd make my own. $17 in parts and easy to do if you can solder (I admit I'm not great at it)
@rodneymiller94393 жыл бұрын
I just got my CS6 yesterday and noticed that there are 2 Y adaptor cords included in the package. Obviously, making your own looks much neater or buying the Voodoo Labs cord is an option too, however could I just use the available cords that ship with the CS6 itself?
@mdurg3 жыл бұрын
@@rodneymiller9439 Yes. I think that’s discussed in the first part of the video. You’ll need a normal cord, the polarity reverse and then the 2.5mm adapter. These should be documented on the instructions (will show you the color code of each) This will plug into one of the 500ma ports on the CS6. I used that for a while until I made the current doubler cable
@rodneymiller94393 жыл бұрын
@@mdurg yeah, I have that part figured out, but I believe that you can cobble together a functional doubler cable out of the cables that come with the unit. I'd show you a picture of what I did, but I can't upload pics on youtube. It's not very efficient and it uses up another cable in the process, but it does result in being able to use both 500mA outlets into the hxfx
@gedleytighe2 жыл бұрын
Late to this... but when you made your own doubler, did you not need to reverse t the polarity for the HX (ie... connect the double black output to the single RED input etc)?
@Mavensmusic3 жыл бұрын
You do not need to use 2 ports on the HX to be powered. It will run on ONE port.
@mdurg3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yes I've run it off one port. Early on I think I have applied power to the CS6 then maybe too quickly turned on the HX. The HX wouldn't turn on maybe 50% of the time. I learned since maybe the CS6 needs a few seconds to come to full power, then power on the HX.
