Just saw a video saying a fully grown male leopard vs large spotted female hyena, leopard would win, this video, leopard vs smaller brown hyena, hyena makes leopard leave its foood and run up a tree.

@@mars188 They had the smallest geographic range of all hyena species from start - only southern africa - and yes, of course, humans didn't them any good since 19th century... Farmers kill them based on the wrong beliefe that they would prey on lifestock. But in contrast to the actively hunting spotted hyena, the brown hyena is first and foremost a scavenger and only occasionally kills small animals.

Brown Hyena. There are 4 species of Hyena. The one most people are familiar with is the biggest one, the formidable Spotted Hyena that goes up against Lions.

Humans forget far too often that these animals don't fight just for the sake of a fight. They ponder if it is worth the risk. Leopards need to be in good health to hunt effectivly, and even if the Leopard maybe coud have beaten the hyena, he might get badly injured which could be a death sentence in the long run. As long as the Leopard doesn't desparatly need this one kill because he hasn't fed for days, he's better off just leaving it be and go for another hunt. Animals don't give a fuck about stupid concepts like "honor", they fight only when they have to fight to survive.
