Hi Phil, how long did it take to create that level of wear? I currently have a tee turf mat which grabs a lot. I'm happy with it as it does punish fat shots but I'm getting wrist pains so need some softer inserts.

It’s dawned on me that once again I forgot to mention putting on my mat video. With GC2 putting isn’t a big issue with a worn area as you can just putt from a clean part of turf due to the large hitting zone. With SkyTrak this isn’t so good as you have to putt and hit front the same area.

I have subsequently changed my design and now stand on a 1.5m x 1.5m range mat, hit off a 1.5m x1.5m T40 golf mat (much more durable than the T35 shown) and have the artificial grass cutout around that. The grass was just a cheap golf/putting turf offcut (I think it was called Golf) from Grass Direct. It's about 12-14mm turf and has done the job just fine sitting on top of the EVA foam tiles and was very cheap.

Hi, can you recommend any stores / sites where I can buy an end of roll / off cut strip of putting Astro as a carpet to use as the base of my sim? Thanks

I don't remember, but think I Iooked on sites like Burts carpets, easy grass or grass 24 or something like that. Nearly all those carpet/artificial grass companies have an offcuts or remnants section.

Hi Phil, Is this something that could be recreated outdoors on grass and hard surface?. Would take a little time to set up and putt away but could be used instead of a standard mat and rubber base which you say slide anyway.

Great video Phil. That T35 bald section makes for an ideal ‘hitting out of a divot” piece as I see it. A happy accident?

Al James the strange thing is it isn’t actually bald. It’s just softened fibers, which is why it feels great. If it was bald it’d be unplayable and needing replacement
