The biggest difference I noticed while I had my Willys 4xe is that when your in e-save the engine almost never shuts off. Coasting, stopping, going down hill. I drove to the Outer Banks from Sidney Ohio in e-save, and I drove back in hybrid. I did not do the numbers, but I definitely got better gas mileage coming home in hybrid. A big difference was going through the mountains, the engine shut off many times coasting down steep grades while also charging from max regen. If you want to save the battery for future use it is useful though.

A test I would love to see is esave for highways to keep the battery for the city driving. This is what I usually do as I live 1 hrs for any city. Would be hard to test, but the idea is instead of burning the battery on the highway, is where you drive when the fuel is more efficient, better to keep the battery for city stop and go. But your test was interesting.

I’ve done lots of tests. I’ve never found eSave to come out ahead from a net energy perspective.

I never use hybrid mode, hybrid mode will drain your battery fast because when you go uphill especially on the freeway your battery gets zapped. I use E-Save and electric mode only. I make sure all the hills are done w gas ⛽️ I use electric mode for the downhill and flat ground. I have 21,000 miles on my Jeep at 16,000 of them are in electric mode. I usually get 25-30 miles on a charge . 2023 Rubicon . My MPGe meter says 58mpg and I’ve never reset it . I’ve only used 200 gallons so far since I bought the vehicle. I’m getting about 100 miles per gallon. The problem with hybrid , it takes about 4 seconds for the computer to turn the motor off in hybrid mode . You can turn off the gas guzzling motor yourself faster than than the computer, so the motor doesn’t run when your pedal is off of the accelerator . Synchronize them yourself for a small gain . Hybrid mode wastes fuel because it allows the motor to idle when it should be off.

The element beryllium is a grey metal that is stronger than steel and lighter than aluminum. And it dissipates heat. Perhaps if the casings of the batteries and its storage box were made out of Beryllium, it could help to increase range by reducing weight and heat?

Did you ever check efficiency in warm weather charging with level 1 vs. level 2? I just purchased Emporia Gen 3, but I'm not monitoring my garage outlets with it so I can't do the experiment yet.

I have both installed in the garage but haven’t tested things yet.

Jeep needs to retweak the whole 4xe engine and battery to make it more efficient

What is the battery is drained, the cpu claims it uses some battery when you start with 0?

The battery is never really 0. When it’s at

@@Wrangler4XEFans So you still will get more MPG than ESave, did you ever experiment that way?

Sorry, I thought it was with a positive charge still, missed some of the video. Thanks!

Everybody keeps dogging Esave and I think your're a little wrong. If you drive the vehicle under 40Mpg in save, I can have my car charged up in under 30 min. Highway speeds no way. I took a 6hour trip in Electric first then Esave, Once the battery was depleted., it took that battery almost the whole trip to charge to 95%. If I leave work which takes 20min at 100% charge, I'm depleted to 55%.Going home the back way keeping around 45mph I'm at 95%. If people wanted super gas mileage this car isn't it. Also I should mention I have a 24 Willy's. Just my two cents. Every scenario is a little different. My experience so far is if you commute long distance this car isn't for you if you think you'd save money on gas. If you drive to and from on one charge, by all means this is the droid you are looking for.

The added gas used during that 30 minutes of charging may create a net energy deficit compared to just using hybrid mode.
