Crv is very minivan soccer mom. RAV4 looks rugged and drives more like a truck/suv. I think men prefer the RAV4. I made the mistake of buying the 18 crv. After 8 months I couldn’t wait to trade it in. The plastic inside that’s shiny scratches no matter what you do. The gas leaks into oil. The car will not warm up in winter or defrost windshield. That and it’s beyond boring to drive. The entire look and feel is a minivan. I had buyers remorse from month one. I got the rav and I couldn’t be happier. Such a nice change and now I feel like I’m in a truck and more in control of the road. Speakers kick ass, and it looks dope.

Two different types of hybrid systems. To complicated for me, these guys help. Toyota has been doing it since Prius was born. We cant ignore the Honda Insight either. One old man bought a used Insight and drove it over a 100K himself and willed it to his grandson at his death as his most prized possession! He expected it would never die! I might get one of those Insights. 0-60 in 7.3 seconds is fast enough for me. Alex reviewed the Insight and said if it had a wider tires, the ride would be as effective as higher cost hybrids. And that he would even consider purchasing over a Prius. Sofyan is no lightweight either, he explained why Kia and Hyundai should not be overlooked.

An offshore rig or even wells take a LONG time to get all the engineering, design, budget, land, taxes, lawyers, and all that stuff in play which can be years before a single drop of oil is pumped, and yet projects already underway are being cancelled. This represents billions of dollars. If experts with that much money on the line and insider knowledge think that it won't be profitable even years from now, so much so that they are willing to take a financial hit right now during a crisis to cut their losses, that tells me cheap gas is here to stay.

The issue is simple: the fuel sensor is bad. It shows “empty” with about 4-5 gallons left in the tank, so while people think it’s empty and can only add 9-10 gallons of fuel, the reality is that it wasn’t empty. Toyota has a TSB on it and a fix coming in a few weeks (a new tank sensor and gauge re-program). You can realistically drive over 150 miles after it goes to empty.

For the CR-V, indicated 212 HP "under some conditions". Those conditions involve driving over 100 MPH, and only last for the few seconds it takes to use up all the battery charge. You can NEVER get more that 180 or so under anything like normal operating conditions: Max acceleration at any "normal" speed is always achieved by serial-hybrid operation, and so is limited to the power of output of the electric drive motor. Once the battery is discharged (very quickly), you're down to the 143 HP engine alone, and with generator-motor losses, you'd be lucky to get as high as 125 HP of actual driving power. 212 HP is very shaky (shady? mendacious?) accounting. (I own an Accord Hybrid, same drive system. I love it and it serves me well, but to call it 200+ HP is ridiculous.)

I just appreciate that some of the auto companies are making more efficient vehicles. Hybrid power may be a transition between ICE and EV, but for many years it is going be be a good solution to reduce pollution and fuel consumption. If I needed a vehicle of this size I would be happy with the one that was most comfortable to drive and for passenger and cargo capacity. A few mpg difference is not going to matter as much as all the other variables. Some folks may pick one based on appearance or price, nothing else matters. I think the front end styling on both is horrendous. Why have so many cars gotten so ugly? The RAV looks like a creepy thing living in the deep ocean.
