The HPI Nitro MT has been on the market for over 20 years, lets take a look aback at the most epic RTR nitro Stadium Truck in recent history. This is the newest version of the Nitro MT platform, the MT2 with the G3.0 engine, released in 2008. This engine is no joke, and has 2.2 HP, nearly the most of any .18 size engine I am aware of. hey man! Thanks for watching. About a year ago I made a video that had clips of this exact HPI racing a Lexus with a dog toy attached to it. In those runs it actually got 50MPH. So I know it's fully capable of 50. also I was only running 20% nitro back then. Honestly I notice zero difference between the 20% Byron Nitro and this 30% bones brew mix. I'm the only one saying this too.

Too bad I could not get it running again due to the damn one way bearing slippage, but I'm going to try again. Honestly I feel this platform could do 60, with taller gearing. sup bro!! I did run the savage on that giant grass field, it ran pretty good. IT topped out at about 43 MPH. So the grass robs it of some speed. The footage was so bumpy I didn't even put it in the video.

thanks dude! Yep, flying that drone is really simple, without those pre-programed modes it would be super difficult to get such great videos of a stationary object. You have to simultaneously fly up, spin , fly away, and aim the gimbal, Almost impossible to do yourself in such good sequence, I tried. I failed!! lol. BTW, in an older video I drove this hpi MT and it got 50 MPH, back then the one way bearing was not slipping though, lol.

speaking of 2wd nitros I busted one of my front drive shafts on my revo 3.3 and took out the other front just to see how it ran. I was able to actually drift and do cookies on grass for long periods of time so fun!

hey bro! Welcome to the 2WD NitroGang lifestyle, lol. Plus the engine gets to it's top RPM much quicker due to less drivetrain stress on the motor itself. As long as you don't wheelie from the start the straight line driving is awesome on a 2WD. This is why the 2WD stadium truck segment was a huge race class about 20-30 years ago.

Most auto parts stores, tractor supply type stores have packs of runber vacuum fitting caps/blockoffs that fit the fuel bottle tubes its exactly what they came with no leaks.

I like HPI I wish they had their parts support a little better. None the less I am going to run my HPI RS4 3 evo soon. It’s the older discontinued model. The .15 in it really rips to HpI did make some good nitro engines in the day and this mt2 is a testament to it. I’m actually considering a Savage Flux XL 😱😅🤣. Those drones look cool might have to get one myself also. Like another commenter said time to sell a few RC haha

hey dude, I highly recommend you pick up a regular traxxas 2070 digital servo, or if you want waterproof get the 2075. There are far more expensive servos from spectrum too, or you can get this one here, many people love them and I use them also. amzn.to/3y60P0k

hey bro, this Dynamite speed meter is the most accurate you could get, ive tested it with real cars and GoPro GPS software, it's accurate. It's got a 10HZ refresh rate which means it can record any top speed within .1 Second intervals. Hey what's up nitro gang! Anyway as long as you perform maintenance you should be able to jump your rc cars of skatepark ramps without issues. My inferno ST has only now many gallons and half a year of brutal bashing later shown parts that need replacing like the diff cups. Like Woogie nitro said in one of his video's "your rc will break at some point might as well have fun with it while it still runs"

Great review, I just got my HPI MT2 3.0 started after many years sitting it ran for a day and then broke the connecting rod. Sooo . I was thinking about either rebuilding it. The g3.0 engine is awesome engine I have one in my thunder tiger tomahawk st which originally had a pro18bx engine with 0.80hp so putting the hpi g3.0 with 2.2hp was massively better

hey bro! I have the thunder tiger tomahawk MX touring sedan with the pro18bx motor, and yes, this G3.0 would destroy that engine. It might be the most powerful stock small-block motor to ever be in any RTR I've seen. IT literally matches the specs of the high end OS 18 TZ motor I run in my Revo. Time to stockpile the G3.0 motors, lol.

Come to think of it, almost every manufacturer is leaving the Nitro Scene, including Kyosho and Losi (the ones who led the way in the 80-90's with race winning innovations. What’s the difference between the nitro RS 4MT and the nitro RS 4MT2

hey bro. The original Nitro MT (lets not call it an RS4- I should not have done that in this video). The original Nitro MT and the MT2 are almost the same, really only an engine difference. This model is the MT2 G3.0, there was also an MT2 with a T-15 motor before this. The g3.0 is the best, it's got a larger fuel tank also and a dual chamber tuned pipe along with a good header. Otherwise they are nearly the same. Parts are interchangeable.

Hey bro, those .21 SH engines are quite good for the money, its basically the same engine in my redcat earthquake 3.5 (which I recently did videos on). The problem with sticking a big-block in a revo is it won't fit without a custom motor mount. You need a big block conversion kit for the traxxas rcs.

Hi! What a coincidence! I’ve only ever owned one remote control car/truck in my life and yes it’s a hpi nitro mt2! I found it in my lock up this morning while I was decluttering. It’s been in there since I was like 10 year old that’s 15 years ago lol Decided to get it out and fix it for my son to play with just like I did:) But cannot find the parts and I was researching earlier and came across that hpi racing went bankrupt and no longer sell/make the parts anymore. hey my dude! Thanks for watching. Glad you liked this video and were able to watching along with your vintage Nitro MT2. I have a solution for you on the Servo saver parts you need. Forget the entire servo saver mechanism and just use a basic servo horn, mine doesn't even have a servo saver at this point, I just have a straight servo horn attached directly to the servo. It's fine. Unless you bash the HELL out of it and jump alot, you won't strip the servo. The suspension arm you will need to get on ebay. If you could, it's in your best interest to find a parts model on ebay for cheap. This will be useful in the long run.

I had the MT 2 18 Pro, the standard engine was a disaster, I bought a Novarossi 15 out of frustration and installed it, but it tore up the car, drive shafts flew through the air like some tire parts ... ggg .. ..
