Otachi was specifically made against the chinese jaeger while leatherback should counter cherno and knock out Striker Eureka which they did. Basically its Newts fault as he leaked all that info by drifting.

You know your Jaeger is absolutely fucking powerful when the Precursor had to make *two* Kaijus to counter him. Leatherback, with sheer brute force and EMP, when attacking Cherno they must have *NO* interruptions from other Jaegers and required the brute strength to even *damage* Cherno the slightest. Otachi, with acid spray and tail, they needed the Acid to damage Cherno's hard shell to soften it up or to just completely melt it and tail to counter Crimson Typhoon so they can't interrupt them while ganging up on Cherno.

Cherno was so tough it took the combined efforts to two Cat 4 kaiju to take it down. I'd say it was pretty damn durable.

When Newton drifted with the kaiju brain, the precursors saw the three yaegers that newton saw, and sent Leatherback and Otachi which were basically hard counters to those jaegers, Leatherback could tank Cherno's punches(and shut down striker) while Otachi could melt through its thick armor.

Hell yeah Cherno! My fav by far!! Good solid durable soviet construction. Ugly af but made to last and to maximize the spense of the resources used to build it, but worn out and dated. I love that, how they very accurately portray the crumblig super power that Russia was durig the cold war. Still, but barely maintaining its power but clearly falling behind to new welthier super powers, but still a force to be reckoned. Also the completely oposite line of thought compared to EEUU capitalism. Hope they bring it back in the second film. It was the most epic jaeger ❤

Don't get me wrong the jaegers are freakin' badass, BUT LET'S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT The other Jaegers got screwed because of their ridiculous designs, do ya know why Gypsy and Striker performed so well? Because they were conventional and easy to maintenance. Meanwhile Crimson's "fabled storm cloud formation" was easily stopped by Otachi GRABBING THE BLADES of the Jaeger and having the opening of grabbing Crimson's PERFECTLY EXPOSED HEAD. And Cherno? It's just too slow, did the six kaiju it kill come one at a time? I'm assuming so because I don't think any jaegers were built to deal with two colossal monsters at the same time, let alone prepare a Jaeger for being, oh I don't know.. SPRAYED WITH THE HIGHLY CORROSIVE ACID EVERY KAIJU HAS IN IT'S BODY. If anything I believe the Jaeger project actually needs a line of small highly mobile jaegers that just have a plasma cannon. Let's be honest that weapon was so strong, right next to the sword. Plus the smaller units could have the advantage by swarming a kaiju in numbers like that of a raptor pack. Most kaiju are just clumsy, why not get at least five small ground units armed with taser harpoons to surround a kaiju, immobilize it, and just wait for gypsy to decapitate it. The benefit with smaller robots would be that they'd only require one pilot. But the entire group should have communications established so they can elaborate complex strategies. Lets be honest here this will save money for everyone, less giant poorly designed robots being scrapped beyond repair. And more smaller robots to work as a team to effectively handle a kaiju. Or just go evangelion and hide everything underground... That always works.

Uncle Crocy Well, Cherno was a mark one, I would say the mark ones were much more experimental, too what design really would work. The mark five Striker probably cost a lot more to build then the likes a Cherno. It's almost like comparing the work horse B-17 to the B-57. One did the job much better, but the other got it done. Beside knowing Russian Engineering Cherno would probably run on anything flammable compared to the Aussie Striker who would need a specialised fuel. I say that metaphorically. If you think Cherno is bad, I would have a look at Romeo blue mate, he's a cut of work

Oh I don't think it's an inherently bad Jaeger, I just think it needs improvements to up to the standards of newer Kaiju, because when you get down to it, a mark 1 giant robot only works well to a point where your enemy outclasses it. Of course unless your robot is upgraded, better yet given a new model. Also, we NEVER speak of Romeo blue.

Haha. Told you about Romeo Blue. Well it really does come down to these giant robots cost billions of dollars. So I can imagine the russian goverment is thinking it ain't broke don't fix it. Russia's pacific coast as well isn't exactly a prime location. Compare that to Australia, who proably needs that newer Jaeger Striker Erukea. I'm baffled the phillipines doesn't have a mark five of it's own, or Japan for that matter. Also Australia must have been like "you spent our military bugget for the next three years on what Bruce?"

I like the idea, but moree jaeger means more feul consumsuption. I reckon they've got the right balance going. Better yet line the breech with Striker's missiles, Cherno's Flame turblines and Gypsy's plasma guns. Or better yet place a grid of the swords over the rift. Boom problem solved. The pile up of Kaiju Corpses might be a problem worth bring Jaegers in to move the bodies away.
