The thing I’m not understanding is … does the 12v alternator run off the petrol/generator motor? Same with the air con condenser? How do you get 12v charging and air con while the car is running on electric motors?
@Cosmycal3 ай бұрын
With a DC-DC converter from high voltage battery to 12V, like in full electric cars. HVAC compressor runs with high voltage battery.

Other than the engine oil that needs to be changed regularly, I heard that gear oil needs to be changed regularly. But there is no mention on the change interval and amount to fill on each change in the manual. Please let me know if you have the information.

Did you have information on that now?

Hi brother I have a 2022 xtrail epower which has a fault displaying e power reduced power. The car drives fine and then shortly cuts out but power stays on just doesn’t move . Then have to switch the car off and switch back on for it to work again . Then shortly after will do the same thing again . No faults on diagnostic any help greatly appreciated

There's some faulty generators on early e-Power powertrains, there's a recall for that from Nissan in Europe.

Hi H.S.D. Is there a starting motor in the e-power x-trail like a diesel or petrol car. Great vids. Love to see how stuff works. You explain it so simple. Now subscribed.

Unfortunately Nissan ePower technology (which is classic series hybrid) is not very fuel-efficient comparing to parallel hybrid system used by Toyota/Ford. I hope they will improve this someday. Also, many people are complaining about noisy generator.
@alexeyanischenko7509 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, all parallel hybrid systems like toyota synergy drive, honda ehev e.t.c. - are not as simple mechanically, as the epower "gear box" (check the other video here with full disassembly of the epower transmission). Also, many people complain of them being sluggish and slow to pedal, complain on absence or unpredictable performance of e-pedal mode that all BEVs are having (epower vehicles are essentially a BEV + small HVB + ICEgenerator). My point is there are pros and cons for both schemes. Toyota hybrids are similar on fuel economy in city driving, but they have better fuel economy on high-speed cruising (they don't have to do 10K+ RPM on their electic motors). But you will never find any car with 79BHP ICE beating Nissan note epower 0-100kmh.
