Chicken Curry recipe video - Murgi Ka Korma/Salan is one of the royal dishes of Hyderabad. Hyderabadi Murgi Ka Korma/Salan is served along with Bagara Khana at small get together parties in Hyderabad.

Ingredients: For 6 servings
1. Chicken (Medium sized pieces) - 1 Kg
2. Curd - 1 ½ Cups
3. Sliced dry coconut - 1 cup
4. Peanuts - 1 cup
5. Onions (Medium sized) - 3 chopped
6. Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 ½ Tablespoon
7. Salt - 2 Teaspoons
8. Red Chilli powder - 4 Teaspoons
9. Turmeric powder - 1 Teaspoon
10. Spices - 1 Teaspoon
11. Coriander - 1 Bunch Chopped
12. Mint Leaves - 1 Bunch
13. Green Chillies - 5
14. Cooking oil - 4 Tablespoons + 1/4th Teaspoon
Procedure:
1. Roast slices of dry coconut and peanuts separately.
2. Add 1/4th teaspoon of cooking oil and sauté 2 chopped onions (please note that we are taking only 2 chopped onions for sauting).
3. Peel the peanuts when still hot.
4. Grind roasted coconut and peanuts and sauted onions to a fine paste. Keep this aside.
5. In a cooking saucepan add oil and when the oil is hot, add one chopped onion. Stir till the onions turn brown.
6. Add ginger garlic paste and when it turns brown, add turmeric powder, salt and masala paste of coconut, peanuts and onions.
7. Add Curd.
8. . Keep stirring as the masala paste have the tendency of getting stuck to the container or getting burnt if left idle for five minutes.
9 . Close the lid at times to avoid spluttering. Keep stirring till the masala paste gets dry.
10. Add red chilli powder and stir well. (Note - we did not add red chilli powder initially to preserve its freshness.)
11. . Add Chicken pieces and mix thoroughly.
12. . Close the lid and cook for 10-15 minutes. Stir in between. Cook till the oil separates.
13. Add 5 cups of water, mint leaves, chopped coriander , whole green chillies and spices or garam masala powder.
14. Close the lid and cook on high flame for about 10 minutes and simmer for 20 minutes.

i've been searching for a good khorma recipe since a long time. i live in germany and khas khas is not available here. today i made it with your recipe. khorma has never tasted better. I tried this out of curiosity and the love of it. It came out just great. I remember that my mom used to put some unpeeled potatoes but exactly dont know whether it was in Murghi Ka Qurma or Ghosh ka Qurma. All the same a real delicious treat. keep the good work going Hydi Wala and thanks

But this chicken korma recipe is not real as how hyderabadi's are making these days... ingredients are process are different in almost every home... however, I appreciate bringing deccani cuisine into general public awareness.

Assalam alaikum, yes, you can double all the other ingredients, except for salt and red chilli powder. Take 3 tsp salt and 6 tsp red chilli powder or as per the taste.

+gordon cowan Sorry for responding late. Spices or Garam masala powder that we used here, is the grinded powder of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and caraway seeds. Cinnamon 10 grams(2 tablespoons), Cardamom 15 grams(2 tablespoons), Caraway seeds or Shahzeera 10 grams (2 tablespoons) and Cloves 8 in quantity. Use the required quantity and store the remaining powder for next use.

hi your recipes are very nice, but i am surprised at the use of coriander leaves and mint leaves as falvouring, these leaves become black when put on slow heat, and also a bit bitter,

What Hyderabad wall said is true, my Muslim in laws always use mint and coriander leaves together whenever they make masala or at the end. For some reason, they give a excellent aroma when used together, you should try. I love Hyderabad Wala recipes because they are 95% authentic, this is exactly how my 70 years old Mother-in-law cooks and her auntie cooks. Except they sauté the chicken first before adding the masala then fry until it’s aromatic. Yogurt is added after.

Thanks for ur easy and very useful recipes. A quick question fkr you , do i need to add water in the mixture of nuts,onions and coconuts ? This might sound funny but am a newbie in cooking. thanks alot though.

+Faizan Ahmed Yes, you can add some water to facilitate the grinding and in making a fine paste. Add water gradually according to the need otherwise it will get watery. You may need half cup or one cup of water. Thanks in return for following our videos Mr Faizan.
