I beat Lilith on hard-core very quickly with lightning spear frozen orbit build, but unfortunately got killed by seething hivemaster (199) in a pit 104. This Hydra build is interesting but I'm not doing any more this season

Just wanted to thank you for this. You've really stuck with Hydra. I have to say initially (in earlier seasons) I didn't like it. But this build you came up with I had to try. Not sure why you didn't run Andariel's with it. I run Andariel's with Tal Rasha's and a GA DOT with Temerity and it demolishes Tier 8. With firebolt enchantment I'm getting DOT ticks north of 100 million. Still need to optimize it but it should be able to get 1000 aether on a Tier 8 if I get the right options. It's a really terrific build with lots of flexibility. In my opinion this is your most fun build. Much appreciated.

@@thejohnle1 Loooooong user guide. This is definitely Lurkin's build, but adapted to run Andariel's. That makes it more of a DOT build, so take DOT damage as your GA on the staff (I don't think I changed that in my planner yet) if you can get it, but Vulnerable damage is still fine. You need Temerity. I cannot emphasize that enough. Basically in Tier 8, you're going to get mobbed. Hydra damage has to ramp up. I have so many affixes on the screen that it drops my FPS (which I'd never seen before) - but you can take it (with Temerity). Moreover, you eventually start melting everything on the screen. DO follow Lurkin's guide because you want to recast Hydra directionally on enemies you're trying to burn down. You MIGHT want to swap out Reinforced, but I run that on all my builds for additional tankiness. I still haven't hit 1000 aether yet - my personal best is like 800 with this build - but if I get the right options should be possible. It's very RNG. It still suffers on Fell Council damage if they move a lot because I have to keep recasting Hydra to chase them down - but it gets the job done. I would run Tier 7's until you're really comfortable.

I found the andariels damage to be underwhelming and trust me I tried it. The attack speed and life on hit is good. I think Shako just felt better because of the cooldown; and ranks to hydra

Do penitent greaves not work properly or something? I would think that adding another dmg multiplier would do more than a little crit. Also fireball enchant would add a lot of AoE damage to this build and i dont think removing iceblade enchant would have a massive impact as your CDR and orbs are spamming ice blades anyways. Last but not least Control glyph instead of Enchanter - multiplicative dmg over a little additive. Thoughts?

pennys just aren't good for bosses unless staggered so they dont get used. its the same reason i opt for enchanter over control, i like the large int and it helps me max out frigid fate quite easily and provides 10% damage with the additive increase. you need ice blade enchant to get 6, hard cast only gives 3 and you need to manually cast frozen orb with wiinterglass or use iice blade enchant to get the other 3 to get 6

Double GAs are doable but triple are 5x the prices and trying to really push the crit damage has been frustrating. I love your Jon Snow hybrid, I saw your Hawk Tuah as well and noticed the great bossing Hydra is doing. I was wondering if you could do a Hydra/Lightning Spear hybrid to try to push the pits? You must be on controller and you can’t aim it. I have the hydra head temper on my weapon that makes more heads. I really only have two out at once. If you cast fast enough some of the hydras take a second to despawn

May want to read the guide I discuss that. It’s actually how you get the most damage out of hydra because the hydra heads attack in “rounds”. The first round all heads attack almost in sync, then for the second round they start to stagger shot. You get the most value out of spam casting for the first round where they all attack very fast.

I don't know if the Hellborne buff needs stacks to get longer, or if the recent patch nerfed it into the ground - but it never lasts long for me anymore. I used to be able to carry it into the boss room and finish the entire fight with it. Now I'm lucky if it lasts long enough for me to start walking through the door. I gave it a try tonight and on T8 the snowveiled is definitely worth the comfort. Much smoother to play and DPS is similar because you can actually cast more instead of dodging everything or getting CC'd. Tldr: good call with the snowveiled.

Really nice, lots of inspiration here. That said, I see a lot of people using Warmth, but... on a build with lots of hits, Life per Hit does better. 10 Hydra heads, 3 Hydras, 2 attacks per second, that's at least 60 hits/second. With a basic 20 life per hit Stat, that's 1200 life per second minimum from a single affix on weapon or gloves. Maybe Warmth could be moved elsewhere.

I have run a similar build and used winterglass as well as a different glove that gave me +7 to all basic skills. The. When I got HC it adds 4 so all basic skills have +11. It absolutely blows the crap out of everything. Just set the 34 hydras to go and stand in the middle and everything takes care of itself. Or, move around because the hydras are instantly doing damage, you can always recast, as resource never runs out, and you get an automatic frozen orb launch because of WG and others. Lightning super is the icing on the case as it travels through all frozen enemies and blows them up. What gloves? Wouldn’t ya like to know…. Hehheheh

I wish hydras did AOE damage. Instead of the life per second on the pants, what about dropping the max life on the weapon and putting in life on hit? That procs on all the hydra hits so will keep you topped off and if anything does break through the barrier, you'll be topped off almost instantly.

Hahahah I’ve been working on this one since S4, mainly S5 PTR. Hydra handles the single target, Tyraels handles the AoE

bonjour je me suis aperçus avec mon stuff que je pouvais avoir une place en plus (aspect ) sur un anneau donc j'ai mis : augmente les dégât de 25% par barrière et lame de glace et parfait du coup en hydre lance de foudre lame glace j'arrive en cumulant a peu près a 70k de dégât brute

I only get 2 out at a time. But when you have enough attack speed a third will linger for a split second when casting the third

Hydra can. Its burning component on summoned hydra can’t. Tyraels always crits

Skills trees and paragon boards on D4 are such a waste of fun to use / look at and all the rest a decent h&s should be... Grim dawn makes those better, Last epoch makes those better, even torchlight... make those better... nice to see some hydras sorc on the build bench anyway. Cheers

Yeah ngl my gear is cracked. T8s are possible. But most players will do T7s. I’m just showing the upper limits here

@@Lurkin17 I made the build and took out enchanter and added flame feeder. My buddy and I knocked out a tier 8 that the butcher spawned in and all our glyphs are and 15. Great build, only problem was getting cooldown 2 times on Harley and getting 2 hydra heads on the staff.

Fof is better than legendary glove on your BD 1.5xfor all of your dmg and more ice ball

Yeah i don't have GA lucky hit 300% fists of fate, and am not going to ask anyone to ever find GA uniques in a build guide aimed at serving people of all different types. "All you need for this build is a very difficult to find or expensive unique off diablo trade"
