Hydramon VS Imperialdramon!! | Digimon Card Game: EX-03 Dragon's Roar Arena (ROUND 4)

This is Round 4 of the Dragon's Roar Arena, a tournament featuring 8 decks from the 3rd theme booster of the Digimon Card Game: Dragon's Roar. The next two decks to clash are Hydramon and Imperialdramon. The Green Hydramon deck is an evolution of the BT-10 BloomLord Plant swarm deck which adds Hydramon as a new boss, infusing control mechanics of suspending the opponent's Digimon, bouncing them to deckbottom and memory gain to make the deck more balanced, consistent and less frail. On the other hand, the Purple/Red Imperialdramon deck features a new Imperialdra line that is capable of DNA evolving from Lv.3 to Lv.6 within a single turn to wipe both the opponent's field and their Security with a combination of mass destruction and aggro. Will the jungle survive the ancient dragon's wrath!?

So normally what happened during playtesting was... HYDRA SWARMS. IMPERIAL COUNTERS WITH JOGRESS. HYDRA COUNTERS WITH HYDRA AND/OR SWARM. IMPERIAL COUNTERS WITH JOGRESS. And this basically goes back and forth until one deck runs out of hand and breaks, so I think this match summed up the interaction pretty well. While Hydra's bounce disrupts Imperial's resource cycle, Imperial's field bomb also makes it such that Hydra cannot counter with Memory steal and has to set up their field from 0 again each time. However, Hydra usually had an edge cos its only requirement to go off is hand while Imperial, even with an ideal starting hand, needs time to dump cards in Trash. So frankly, I'd say Imperial got a bit lucky this match. As I comment at the end of the video, just 1 card could have changed the outcome completely.

Imperialdramon Black is probably my favourite deck in EX3 mostly because I’ve enjoyed the one from bt8 so much. But Imperial black is definitely more my play style.

Lotusmon is an interesting add in for this match up. The ability to gain memory when your digimon are deleted and return 3k DP from the trash to your hand would be huge

Rikas deck almost doesnt function without attacking (to trigger free card slashes from Rika) so they are incredibly susceptible to Hydra lock which can disrupt many of their killer combos ie being able to start at 3 with Kyubi and go into Tao -> Sakuya -> Miko for damage, removal and recovery. They could mitigate this if they have enough DP minus tho so depends on how lucky they are with their stack

i got a question this new deck of imperialdramon can play with a card of the other armor forms right? cause 2 of them require 2 memory froma veemon dont matter the color like with Gammamon and Magnamon needs 3, and any of them can be a good adition to play kimeran to have 5 color and be more powerful.

The other Armor Forms are not so good in this deck bcos they cannot chain DNA into Imperial, I wouldnt recommend them. The deck has no space as is

Isnt the rule in Digimon effects is do as much as you can? So u can still target suspended digimon to be suspended and not unsuspend until end of turn ( Samadhi Santi to Imperialdramon) ?

The problem is Samadhi Santi's wording, which specifically states "your opponent's cards suspended with this effect...". So unlike MegaGargo which can freeze an already suspended Digimon, Santi requires the target to be initially unsuspended in order to freeze it. This is in the FAQ rulings on the official website.

Ok, i'm curious. In Hydramon's last turn, It uses Mimi to move the Digimon on the raising area to Battle area, and then attacks security. But the Digimon was hatched that turn, so was It ok to use It ti attack? I mean, It shoudn't be possible unless It has or gains rush

Oh if you didnt know, hatched Digimon dont have summoning sickness. But usually they dont get to attack since theyre stuck in the Raising Area for a turn

I thought you couldn't blitz if the digimon was just played for that turn? When hydra wiped imperial and veemon was used to go up the chain wouldn't it still technically have summoning sickness?

Thanks to jogress effect they don't have summoning sickness witch mean even you play digimon in the same time you can still attack security. Still i think imperialdramon was broken and only get counter if your opponent uses card who can make you can't play digimon with effect like crimson blaze or pillowmon.

He cant use Mist memory boost, there is no purple card in play. 1 minute of video, also at minute 10 he used night raid without a purple card on play. I am missing something here???

I really don't enjoy what imperialdramon does. All of that's happening on your opponents turn and that seems very annoying.

At least it isn't Yu-Gi-Oh, where the Meta is it's everyone's turns at all times, and Digimon doesn't have effects like Negate this, Negate that. The likewise though there is decks that have the possibility of doing the same thing, not just Imperialdramon. Playing with friends as long as I had Takato out, I was blitzing and doing things on their turn, that's just what Blitz allows players to do

Blitz and Imperial dont happen during the opponents turn. They resolve at the end of your turn, and your opponents turn only begins after they finish resolving. Thats why the other player only unsuspends and draws after you Blitz/Imperial. Please be careful about this. If it wasnt Your Turn anymore, many effects wouldnt apply
