Thank you so much for this video! It mean so much to have your expertise on here. I love all your videos, I recently had my husband plant three of those hydrangea plants and they looked just like that mid day. I’m upstate NY, I thought I was doing something wrong. I might have over watered them the last few days, because I didn’t know what was going on. I’m new to gardening, now the flowers have turned brown and sad. I just noticed this video. I hope my beautiful hydrangeas can come back to full life. 😔🥺

One suggestion on the potting method I have used. Cut a one inch wide slot about 3/4 of the way down both sides of the plastic container you are using. Then you can allow the branch you are propagating to lay naturally THROUGH the pot and then cover with dirt. You won’t need a rock to hold it down since you aren’t bending it.

Fantastic video. Aurora Colorado. All types of Hydrangeas are delayed in blooming- May 20th 8” of wet snow (protected All)- June 11th 100 degrees. Plants are just starting to flush out. Annabelle a week away from first flowers.

Hello from Iowa. Love your videos. For the past three years we have had a hard freeze in the fall, followed by warm weather so new buds start to form. Then it freezes again so I get no blooms on old wood. And by the time the buds get close to blooming on new wood, we have our freeze in the fall and so I don't get any blooms. So disheartening.

I tried propagation of hydrangeas using Vermiculite and putting the container in the shade under the hydrangeas. Epic Fail! Help! Would you say the “layering way” is better than clipping stems and leaves and covering them with vermiculite? What are your Thoughts about using this method? Is layering better?

Super hydrangea question Lorita. I find that the ground layering method I mentioned in this video works best . I have another video showing a super quick way to do this . I’ll add the link below. Also consider having your cuttings in semi shade next time. When I put mine in full shade they get rotten before they mature . Hi , I am from Canada, Alberta . My trees starts to bloom 3 weeks ago and now all the flowers are drying out from white to brown. We had rain for the past 1 week . It happens last year too we barely enjoyed the beautiful smelling trees. Am I doing something wrong ?!

Hi Nora , you aren’t doing anything wrong . Sometimes a lot of consistent heavy rain will do that to the young fresh blooms . You may consider planting a variety of hydrangea known as a rebloomer . Endless Summer amd proven winners Let’s Dance Blue Jamgles are examples of these . They bloom in June and then a new set of flowers comes in at the end of summer . 🌸🌸
