It sure sounds great. Not sure if it's the same sound engine as the big brother, which is both a really nice sounding synth and kinda cheap way of getting a poly aftertouch controller. We need more controllers with that. PLEASE Yamaha .. introduce a controller with your horizontal touch keybeds from the Electone line. *HINT* Montage upgrade ...

You are such a fun guy and a phenomenal musician. It’s so hard not to smile when playing a synth with poly aftertouch. I have a Hydra keys and it brings me happiness every day. Your jamming is awesome. The Hydra is great in any form factor. The portability of the Explorer is quite an achievement and also brings affordability of this remarkable synth engine to most people. Great video. Love the channel.

I got the desktop version as soon as it was announced. Since then it has replaced around 90% of every other synth in my studio. That includes vintage analog hardware and some premium VSTs. The team at ASM killed it with this synth, hands down the most versatile synth I’ve ever owned (and I’ve been around awhile lolz!)
@ZenMountain

Exactly what vintage analog synth did it replace?

@@ZenMountain let’s see, a korg monopoly, Yamaha cs-10 & cs-15, moog prodigy a Roland Juno 6 and Juno alpha 2. When I bought them they weren’t vintage though. They were just what was around and cheap. It’s really silly how much ppl will pay for that old gear🤣 The Hydrasynth is the epitome of modern digital synths and it’s super quick to program patches. One synth to rule them all!

@@joshuamorganmusic LOL! There is no way in the world the Hydrasynth would replace a CS10 or a CS15 man, or a Moog Prodigy ?? You have to be kidding me, as great as it is, it sounds completely different. I do own one and I love it but it's not replacing ANY of my analog synths ever. It adds something valuable to any setup, but it has its own sound ... its super versatile but very different from any of those synths you mentioned. If you are not just lying, you need a better set of speakers or a visit to the audiologist. Hahaha, you crazy person. Is it intentional? Sorry man, didn't mean to be disrespectful but come on... Haha...You made my day, thanks.

@@ZenMountain yeah… it wasn’t a mini freak that replaced anything lolz ! It was a Hydrasynth. Specifically the desktop version. Also, I have a very tuned studio and very accurate monitors. I’ve been using analog gear since the early 90’s when I started making music. The hydrasynth replaced most of the synths of that list because I can get get pretty damn close to almost anything with it and it sits better in a mix (less fuddling around with eq/compression, etc) the built in fx are superb and for the price I sold those dodgy synths for I can pay my rent for the next 6+months. Plus none of my clients/fans have ever noticed I switched🤓🤘

Love my Hydrasynth Desktop. It's a sound designer's dream synth with a great, logical interface. It's digital and not on rails as much as an analog, so you really have to learn it. HS offers more in terms of sound design than anything I'm aware of in its price range.

I knew I had to get the Hydrasynth Explorer when it was announced. I'm on a budget both in money and space, but for me who only had a Reface CS for poly and a Neutron for mono, the Explorer was too good of a deal to pass up. Hi Doctor Mix. Another fantastic video 👍🏻. Can you please make a video on how to make the arpeggio sound that was common on the 80’s synth pop. Like the one used at the start of Japan’s Quiet Life and Duran Duran’s planet earth. My brother use to have a Jupiter 6 and a Roland 808 back in the 80’s and I remember using these when I was a teenager. Great memories. I’m currently playing with Sunrizer on my iPad but it’s still not what I remember from 40 yrs ago.

I need your help. Right now I have at home the Hydrasynth Deluxe and I am waiting for the Novation Peak. At first I wanted the Roland Xm, but now I keep thinking why not send everything back while I can and buy the Jupiter X. What will be for my Ableton home studio be of more use, producing EDM, Techno etc.. The Hydrasynth/Peak combo or the Roland Jupiter X. I hope you don't mind me asking here, but for me it is a lot of money and I don't wanna make the wrong decission. With the Hydra/Peak combo I think I am perhaps more versatile, but I have no experience in sound design and if it comes down to playing patches, I can probably buy the Jupiter. Looking forward for your reply.
