Thanks for your advice on resetting the Roli settings to default. It's completely fixed the issues I had with hanging notes and crashes! Also, my Roli seaboard block directly connects to the Widi Master connected to my Hydrasynth - finally putting these two devices to good use!

I am buying the Roli Lumi Keys Studio MPE Controller Keyboard to use with my Hydrasynth Desktop. Can I connect it directly to the Hydrasynth if I use a Midi Interface Cable or my Midi Interface USB Host. The Lumikeys uses USB-C port for MIDI out. I have a USB-C Midi Interface Cable that has the two 5 Pin Midi DIN connectors at the other end. I also have a ESI M4U eX 8-Port USB 3.1 Gen 1 MIDI Interface with USB Hub which I could use. I just want a connection from the Lumi Keys to my HydraSynth without having to use my MacBook Pro and DAW. I am new to this MIDI MPE technology so I could use your help. Thanks. BTW I LOVE my HYDRASYNTH! I've been programming an playing Synths since 1972 with my first ARP 2600 and have owned and played many of the "Classic" synths since then, the HydraSynth is one of the best I've ever owned! Floyd

Yes, you can map any MPE parameters as modulation in Hydrasynth.

For some reason in the Mod Matrix Assign menu on my hydrasynth desktop (with MPE enabled ofc), it has MPE-X, MPE-Yabs and MPE-Yrel, but not "MPEOff-VC" which I see is in the menu on yours. It means I can't edit the way my patches interact with what Roli calls "lift". Any help??

MPE velocity release is the same as velocity off labeled in the mod matrix as "Velo Off"

Can you connect a MPK249 directly into the desktop version of the Hydrasynth?

Sure, you can connect them by MIDI DIN cable directly to play the Hydrasynth, however MPK249 does not have polyphonic aftertouch or MPE support.

On the website it says “usb midi in/out“ - doesn‘t this mean, that you could connect the seaboard directly?

You can connect it directly through MIDI DIN if the MPE controller has it.

I just updated my Hydrasynth to work with the absolute IDENTICAL set up as in this video. My Hydrasymth will only play sounds if the MPE setting in the Hydrasynth is switched to the Off position. It's the same if I try to use Bitwig to. How is this possible ?

@@omenjh I struggle with it in general. The penny never drops with it in my head. It's like the day of that dentist appointment has arrived when I pull It out (lol) to use it. I'm glad to own one though.

@@jaderington I found what it was, you have to set input as mpe in ableton and not a midi channel

@@omenjh Correct ! But before I got into MPE I switched to Bitwig DAW. It took me ages to discover that you had to load a Bitwig tool called HW (as in hardware & another 1 called CV if modular ) it had a big MPE select button.....I know I am not the only one that feels alone though the massive learning curve of modern technology , but the frustration can be incredible at times. You blame KZbin for not showing the right video fast enough 😀 Thank god for YT really !

Yes. You can connect it directly through MIDI DIN if the MPE controller has it.

is there a way to sendi midi clock from a seperate source along with the MPE from the seaboard, with put using a computer? i have the kenton usb to midi converter which works for the MPE part but can i aslo send clock from say an MPC using a midi merge box?

As long as you are not merging two clocks, it should work fine. A merge box with data filter function should be handy.

No, it is not essential. If the MPE controller provides MIDI DIN connection, you can connect it to the Hydrasynth directly.
