Want to become an Ashun Sound Machines Hydrasynth wizard and completely level up your overall sound design skills?
🎓 Register for the Hydrasynth Mastery Course series here: sub.jamesorvis.com/jamesorvis...
The Hydrasynth Mastery Course series bundle is a 3 part series with over 11+ Hours of professional tuition, to help you conquer this wonderful synthesizer 🙌
Part 1 packs 6 hours of professionally produced content that guides you through every module and parameter, enabling you to conquer the Hydrasynth and confidently shape your sounds.
Towards the end of the course, I will show you how to create a punchy bass, a cinematic lead and an acid sequence.
Watching my patch creation process in real-time will give you the confidence and building blocks to make your own sounds, or tweak existing patches to better fit your music.
Parts 2 and 3 aim to push your sound design skills even further.
Part 2 - The Sound Designers Toolkit: Learn Advanced Tips & Tricks will be a 2Hour+ course where I twist and bend the Hydrasynth in creative ways to show you what the Hydrasynth is truly capable of.
Think of this as an audiovisual cookbook that will give you the building blocks to create your own mind-melting patches.
Part 3 - The Preset Creator Masterclass will be a 3+ Hour masterclass packed with ten preset designs from the ground up.
I will take you through the process of designing creative patches, full of out of the box programming that pushes the Hydra to its limits.
In addition to the 3 part Hydrasynth mastery course, I am also putting together a collection of preset packs. The sounds will be forward-thinking and set up ready for an expressive live performance.
Sounds good? Join the course here: sub.jamesorvis.com/jamesorvis...
*Whether you have a Hydrasynth Keyboard, Desktop, Explorer or Deluxe, this course will still be relevant as the sound architecture and signal path is pretty much the same.

Great in depth video on how best to wrestle a warm, undulating tone from an icy, clinical initialised patch. 10/10 you done it again 🔊

Great video, sold me on the hydra desktop, tried it in person a couple months ago and was on the fence since it felt like it was locked in the cold digital sound but this is such a wildly different feel, and the build quality is great

I wasn’t keen on most of the presets it came with, just wasn’t suitably for my taste and genres that I make. Typhon on the other hand, whoever made those stock presets knows how to sell a synth with preset design ✅ Hydra is great though it can get to some amazing sweet spots and wacky patches!

Lovely. Making the HS sound wild (ie. radically evolving sounds) is somewhat 'easy', but making it sound warm and subtle is a bit harder. You nailed it, so thanks for laying out the path. I think I'll make an 'init pad'-patch like this one for future use. Thanks!

My only grip is you can't upload your own waveform. And the way wavetable is implemented, uh meh. I would prefer the traditional way and the possibility to import your own. But it's a beast nonetheless. It gonna have a place with the Virus TI in the synth pantheon!

15:09 60,000 / BPM = 1/4 in ms . No need for charts, just use your phone/computer's calculator :)

There is always a simpler way! Thanks :) I think theres a few apps out there too, I do like popping in the bpm and then having all the options listed. A student told me theres a max4live plugin that sits in your project and tells you all the ms options too!

@@jamesorvis_mixhackers more than one way to skin a cat :) I mostly write in the same BPM range, 143-146 and knowing that 1/16 is roughly 100ms is enough for me in most cases. If I need to get really precise I'll use a calculator but it's not a bad thing if a delay time or pre-delay is just a touch off-the-grid!
